The Ketagalan Forum—2021 Asia-Pacific Security Dialogue drew to a successful close yesterday. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the forum was held online this year, addressing a range of topics including developments in the Taiwan Strait, how QUAD are meeting the challenges of the #IndoPacific, #GrayZoneCoercion in the East and South China Seas and the reconfiguration of global supply chains in the #PostPandemicEra.
In her pre-recorded address, President Tsai Ing-wen warned that as we emerge from the pandemic, authoritarian regimes have a new confidence in their alternative model to the liberal democratic order. Taiwan, she said, which continues to thrive, can offer a solution to many democratic countries who are struggling to get their footing back amid a series of challenges, including #ClimateChange, emerging diseases, non-proliferation, terrorism, and secure supply chains. She added that Taiwan is well-positioned to serve as an indispensable partner in sectors such as biotechnology, renewable energy, and the semiconductor industry, with the revival of the QUAD and the EU's proposed EU-Asia Connectivity Strategy.
Keynote speaker, former United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Kelly Craft, with her Formosan bear in tow, stressed her personal relationship with Taiwan and called out China’s government-run media outlets for trying to take advantage of the situation in Afghanistan to undermine Taiwan’s trust in the United States as a security partner. She applauded the Biden administration for its continuing demonstration of the US commitment to Taiwan and underlined the importance of Taiwan to US security at home, saying “If Taiwan is lost, we lose too.” She also pointed to what she called systemic discrimination in the UN system against Taiwan and expressed her support for Taiwan becoming a QUAD+ member.
MOFA Deputy Minister Tien Chung-kwang stressed Taiwan’s determination to defend herself and to be a reliable partner in the creation of regional and global supply chains, citing US Founding Father Benjamin Franklin’s famous words, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
The dialogue hosted four panels, with 16 officials or former officials and academics from countries, including the #US, #Japan, #France, #Australia, #India, #Singapore, #SouthKorea, #Vietnam and the #Philippines.

Elon Musk
Elon Musk
Well...
★★★★★★★★★★★★
1:Jobs Overstates, Musk Understates
★★★★★★★★★★★★
Musk
> What is the future that we want? It's consisted of really appealing solar roof... then combine that with storage, and with electric cars.
It's an obvious 3-part solution... Yeah... 3 part solution... uh...
It's really not that complicated.
➜We are building a grand future - a future of endless renewable energy and clean mobility, but with the sort of convenience you couldn't even imagine.
To build this, we've had to overcome a trinity of challenges that have bedeviled generations prior:
1. Houses that generate energy during the day all by themselves
2. Efficient and integrated storage
3. And the best electric cars the world has ever seen
Ok,我寫的有點誇張,但 you get the point。
★★★★★★★★★★★★
➜ What is the economy? It is uh... at the foundation, it's labor. So what happens when there's... uh... no shortage of labor?
So I think in the long-term, there will need to be universal basic income (applause)... Not right now, because the robot doesn't work (laugh)... we just need a minute.
Essentially, in the future, physical work will be a choice... if you want to do it, you can, but you wouldn't need to do it. Obviously it has profound implications for the economy, because... the economy, at its foundational level, is labor, and capital is just distilled labor, then... is there an actual limit to the economy? Maybe not...
連開發萬用機器人的難度,他都只是說 "We just need a minute" lol。
Btw... Musk 還隨口說了一句 "capital is just distilled labor"。
Honestly, he's not even trying。
…

?? Greetings from Hanoi. Environmental protection and awareness has always been very near and dear to my heart. It's at the core of who I am. I come from a family that loves science and the environment - tree huggers, loud and proud. And my appreciation for things such as clean food, water, and air has dramatically increased since moving to Vietnam.
Don't get me wrong - I love Vietnam. I love the society, the convenience of being able to call Grab food, the motorbikes... but the fact of the matter is Vietnam is going through a developmental stage. And as such, Vietnam is fighting a battle with environmental pollution, just as every country has to do.
We will run out of oil and gas very soon - within out lifetimes. As such, we need to begin to look to the future, and find other means of renewable energy, especially for transportation. While countries like America and Japan already have the infrastructure in place, Vietnam is still quite a ways off.
I was lucky enough to have the chance to try out an electric motorbike from my buddy Kin. As such I wanted to make a video discussing Vietnam, its transportation, and the future of it. What will happen? What are the solutions? Hope you enjoy the video.

Video Title: Why Japan's Great Pyramid of Giza Can't be Built Until 2110
"London. October, 1992. A Japanese man entered a government building near Chancery Lane, and made his way up to an office on the first floor. This was the London branch of the UK’s Patent Office. You see, this man was there on behalf of Japan’s renowned Shimizu Corporation - a leading architectural and engineering firm that was (and is) among the top in the world, and he was there to apply for a patent. To secure their ideas globally it was necessary to apply not just in Japan. Now this particular patent was for no ordinary idea. It was for something grand, something spectacular. The idea was to build giant pyramids in the middle of some of the largest and busiest urban centers in the world - starting with Tokyo. These infrastructures would be so large, they could house entire cities. But why? What was this for? And who exactly is the Shimizu Corporation? To understand this, we need to go back in time, back over 200 years ago to the company’s inception..."
