【7 Lessons from 7 early-stage founders】
And that's a wrap! Startups are hard, very hard. There's a million different reasons why a founder will fail. Although every founder will never walk the same path as an another, it's my hope that you can at least distill some form of practical insight or inspiration from the experiences of the founders highlighted. Here's a quick snapshot of the lessons covered:
#1 - Establish a working relationship with your co-founder before tying the knot ft. Alan Chan of Omnichat (AW#16)
#2 - Don't in love with your product ft. Kevin Wong of Origami Labs (AW#15)
#3 - Talk to your investors ft. Hai Ho of Triip (AW#18)
#4 - Hire slow, fire fast ft. Hai Nguyen of Canavi (AW#20)
#5 - Don't compete for the sake of compete ft. Chris Xue of Novelship (AW#16)
#6 - Optimize on leveraging strengths instead of improving weaknesses ft. Chelsea Sim of Botbot.AI (AW#18)
#7 - Zoom in, zoom out ft. Jackson Aw ft. Mighty Jaxx (AW#20)
Beyond shared tactics or playbooks, it is also my hope that other founders' experiences resonate with your own, and let you understand that you are not alone.
At AppWorks, we now have over 1,300 founders in our community, filled with like-minded peers, mentors, and even business partners--perhaps the strongest founder community of its kind in GSEA. Applications for AW#22 will be closing next Monday, January 4. If you're a founder targeting AI/IoT, blockchain/DeFI, or SEA, do remember to apply.
It's been a pleasure serving you readers. If you enjoyed the content in any way, please do show your support by following our page and engaging with our posts.
It's now my pleasure to pass on the reins to my colleague Jack An, who will serve as your editor for the month of January.
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday and happy new year!
Cheers,
Jun

【 The Rise of the No-Code Movement 】
As new technology is democratized, it draws in a new wave of founders with them. Over the last ten years at AppWorks, with each democratization, we’ve observed surges of newly minted founders joining the fray, from artificial intelligence to blockchain, Internet of Things, e-commerce, all the way back to mobile applications, and no-code(also known as low-code) will be no different. If you don’t know much about the no-code movement, I’ve summarized the key reasons why this movement is exciting:
🔸 Lower entry barrier means new builders
First and foremost, as the name suggests, the no-code movement allows people without extensive knowledge in programming to be able to build products and services.
And what comes with new builders are new ideas, new takes on existing solutions, and a whole new set of problems that the world has previously ignored.
🔸 Founders can focus more on the business rather than tech
With reduced building time, this accelerates the iteration cycle for founders experimenting business models. So many startups fail before they are able to launch their product.
By strapping together ready to go tools like Airtable, Coda, Wix, Typeform, Zapier, building and launching a MVP over the weekend will now be more common than ever before.
This is no different to great coders who move fast and leverage existing libraries, frameworks, and APIs when building their product, no-code IS the new level of abstraction to programming.
🔸 Competition
This probably excites me the most. As competition encourages existing players and newcomers to create more value, and retires those that are under delivering.
At the end of the day, technology is created to better our lives, and there are a lot of underrepresented niches which are currently served by major players, as an afterthought. I’m truly looking forward to this wave of competition and the products that'll be created to for these adjacent users.

Not long ago, Dan Lok was just a poor immigrant boy. He had nothing but a strong desire to get out of debt and make enough to provide for his single mom. With this strong desire, Dan quit his job as a grocery bagger. He dropped out of college. And he became an entrepreneur.
After 13 failed businesses, Dan finally became a self-made millionaire at age 27 and multi-millionaire by age 30.
Fast forward to today, Dan is now an official Forbes Book author with over 13 internationally best-selling books. He’s the founder and chairman of several multimillion dollar businesses. And outside of his business success, he is one of the most-watched, most quoted and most followed educators of our time. In total, his videos have been watched over 100-million times across his social media platforms. His emails are read by over 2,000,000 people every month.

Please understand that by watching Dan’s videos or enrolling in his programs does not mean you’ll get results close to what he’s been able to do (or do anything for that matter).
He’s been in business for over 20 years and his results are not typical.
Most people who watch his videos or enroll in his programs get the “how to” but never take action with the information. Dan is only sharing what has worked for him and his students.
Your results are dependent on many factors… including but not limited to your ability to work hard, commit yourself, and do whatever it takes.
Entering any business is going to involve a level of risk as well as massive commitment and action. If you're not willing to accept that, please DO NOT WATCH DAN’S VIDEOS OR SIGN UP FOR ONE OF HIS PROGRAMS.

Dan Lok, a.k.a. The King of High-Ticket Sales is one of the highest-paid and most respected consultants in the luxury and “high-ticket” space.
Dan is the creator of High-Ticket Millions Methodology™, the world's most advanced system for getting high-end clients and commanding high fees with no resistance.
Dan works exclusively with coaches, consultants, thought leaders and other service professionals who want a more sustainable, leveraged lifestyle and business through High-Ticket programs and Equity Income.
Dan is one of the rare keynote speakers and business consultants that actually owns a portfolio of highly profitable business ventures.
Not only he is a two times TEDx opening speaker, he's also an international best-selling author of over 12 books and the host of Shoulders of Titans show.
Dan's availability is extremely limited. As such, he's very selective and he is expensive (although it will be FAR less expensive than staying where you are).
Many of his clients are seeing a positive return on their investments in days, not months.
