“Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for in doing so, some have entertained angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:2 WEB)
Angels (even fallen ones) have the ability to take on human likeness.
“When men began to multiply on the surface of the ground, and daughters were born to them, God’s sons saw that men’s daughters were beautiful, and they took any that they wanted for themselves as wives.” (Genesis 6:1-2 WEB)
The fallen angels did so during Noah’s time so that they could have sexual intercourse with human women, resulting in the birth of the Nephilim giants.
So who are the ‘ghosts’ that seem to take on familiar appearances of the deceased?
These are demons (fallen angels) who have observed the mannerisms and speech patterns of those who were once alive.
They take on the same appearance of those departed humans to fool people into believing that it’s possible to communicate with the dead, and that their spirits are back to help. It’s all just a great deception!
I taught Mae that when she sees such things, it’s not a ghost, but a demon, and that she doesn’t need to be afraid at all — that she should just ask Jesus to protect her and He will chase these demons away with His power.
We don’t have to be afraid of demons at all, no matter what form they assume to try and scare us.
They are subject to us in Jesus’ name. We have authority over them because of Jesus’ name.
“The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” He said to them, “I saw Satan having fallen like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you. Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”” (Luke 10:17-20 WEB)
The serpent’s danger is in its bite. The scorpion’s danger is in its sting.
All the power of the enemy — from front to back, is crushed under our feet when we realize we have authority over them in Jesus’ name.
“Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7 WEB)
Why does the devil flee (a picture of urgency) when we resist him in Jesus’ name? Why doesn’t he just reluctantly walk away slowly?
I believe that when Jesus’ name and the blood of Jesus is used against him and other demons, he feels extreme pain and is forced to retreat.
Obviously these evil spirits can feel pain, and are more sensitive to pain than us because they are spirits.
Otherwise, how will they be tormented in the lake of fire at the end of time?
“Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;” (Matthew 25:41 WEB)
Finally, you have the most powerful Spirit inside you, that causes demons to quake and tremble near you.
I’m talking about the Holy Spirit who lives in you.
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4 WEB)
He is greater than the devil or any demon. If you encounter a demon, don’t fear. Chances are, the demon is much more afraid of you because of Who is in you!
Dear brethren, the world in general tries to condition us to be afraid of demons.
Through horror movies, they falsely portray demons as even being stronger than Christians.
Somehow in these movies, the name Jesus isn’t used and they just say “in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit”.
The exorcists are always portrayed as priests in black robes sprinkling ‘holy water’.
It’s time for us to break free from wrong believing that is keeping us bound in fear.
The devil is afraid of what you can do if you awaken to the immense authority you have in Christ.
You really don’t need to be afraid of the enemy.
If you have to face a demon, remember these three things:
Use Jesus’ name
Plead the blood of Jesus
Call on the Holy Spirit inside you to overcome the demon outside
In your own strength, you are far weaker, but when you fight in the name of Jesus, demons have no choice but to run away!
