Had a good meeting with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday. We last met nearly ten years ago.
Usually foreign dignitaries come to the Istana, but I received the Crown Prince at Parliament House for practical reasons, as the Ministers involved were in Parliament for the Budget debate.
Afterwards, we took a walk along the Singapore River on the way to dinner. I showed him how the skyline had changed over the last decade. Many new buildings have been added over the years, but some icons remain, like the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles. He picked a good time to visit, in our Bicentennial year!
To mark this visit, we concluded a Singapore-UAE Comprehensive Partnership, as well as three MOUs in the environment, greenery projects, and education. We have friendly and strong bilateral ties with the UAE and look forward to expanding our cooperation! – LHL
