Part 2
Part 2
Hi everyone! This is the fifth post (the last post was on SIZE, Part 1) in the series to help you find the best American college /university FOR YOU by considering more than “college rankings.”
SIZE (Part 2)
The size of a class in American schools can also affect the structure of the class and the curriculum as well.
•Smaller classes are often discussion based and each student’s participation and active engagement in class often factors into their grade.
•At larger schools, classes are lectures delivered by a teaching assistant (TA) or the professor. The students take notes and then ask questions during the TA’s office hours.
The size of school will also play a part in your social life in college.
•A smaller school means you will know or recognize a higher number of the students on your campus.
•A larger school means you will be fairly more anonymous and may know a smaller percentage of the student body.
If you have always lived in a big city and like the feeling of living in a place with a large population, a larger college or university might be best for you, but if you like a small town atmosphere and a larger sense of community, a smaller college might be your type.

The oral test will have 5 questions. Uh…some of you may think the tests are too difficult with too many questions. But this is not so. As a matter of fact, there will be a summary (簡要大綱) handout every class this semester. If you study them well, the tests will be very easy. And speaking of (一提到) grades, the written and oral tests will be just a small part of the final grade. Active class participation (參與) is the most important thing.
