Job Introduction
BBC Chinese is one of the major language services in the BBC World Service. By focusing on the online platforms, it offers two websites in BBCChinese.com, one of the world’s most heavily used news and current affairs website and BBCUKChina.com, a UK focused news platform. BBC Chinese has staff based in London as well as in Hong Kong.
Role Responsibility
You will be based in Hong Kong, supervising daily multi-media production for the websites. You will lead the team there in close collaboration with the Service’s editorial and production team in London, providing trustworthy and distinctive multimedia content to the Chinese-speaking audiences around the world. You need to focus on delivering original and creative journalism to help BBCChinese.com stand out in a competitive market. You’ll also work effectively to contribute in English to other BBC programmes.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have a track record of success in an editorial role in the broadcast and online industries with fluency in both written and spoken Mandarin and English and the ability to communicate effectively. You are expected to manage and inspire a team effectively. You’ll have the ability to articulate and write in English to offer insights on China-related news and current affairs along with thorough understanding of the BBC’s editorial policies and practice.
