As an academic writer, you are expected to be critical of the sources that you use. This essentially means questioning what you read and not necessarily agreeing with it just because the information has been published. Being critical can also mean looking for reasons why we should not just accept something as being correct or true. This can require you to identify problems with a writer’s arguments or methods, or perhaps to refer to other people’s criticisms of these. Constructive criticism goes beyond this by suggesting ways in which a piece of research or writing could be improved.
… being against is not enough. We also need to develop habits of constructive thinking.
Edward de Bono

About 20 years ago, a landmark study found that toddlers before the age of 3 in low-income families would hear 30million less words than the more affluent families, putting them at disadvantage before they start school. Now, a growing number of researches has found that it’s the quality of communication between children, parents, and caregivers that is more important than the number of words children hear. According to research observations, the frequent use of parentese — the slow, highpitched voice commonly used for talking to babies — were reliable predictors of language ability at age 2. Professor Anne Fernald of Stanford suggests that increased quantity of language inevitably leads to better quality. When you learn to talk more, you tend to speak in more diverse ways and elaborate more, and that helps the child’s cognitive development.

Why Women Are the Future of B2B Sales
(78%)(Yet research shows that women salespeople often outperform men. A 2019 study by incentive solution provider Xactly reported that 86% of women achieved quota, compared to 78% of men.)
(7 capabilities that set high-performing salespeople apart):
• Analyzing: understanding cause and effect and seeing big picture implications
• Connecting: building a network of customers, team members, and other resources
• Collaborating: working cooperatively with others
• Shaping solutions: understanding customer needs and adapting the offer accordingly
• Influencing: shaping their messages and style to maximize impact
• Driving: applying structured and planned approaches to deliver outcomes
• Improving: constantly seeking to do things better and being prepared to try new things
然而,女性更擅長connecting, shaping solutions, and collaborating,而男性更注重improving and driving outcomes。
1. Diversity-focused recruiting
2. Female mentorship programs.
3. Better coaching.
4. More promotions for women.
當作「Vt」的時候,champion的意思是:to support, defend, or fight for a person, belief, right, or principle enthusiastically
例句:He has championed constitutional reform for many years.
A good way to develop female leaders is to champion women for stretch roles and responsibilities that test and develop their managerial skills.
