Government Says Drunk Driving Checks Will Continue
內政部持續 酒駕執法
The government says it will still be carrying out checks for people drinking
and driving 酒駕.
According to the interior minister 內政部長, they will continue their "zero
tolerance" policy against drunk driving.
Zero tolerance, 零容忍, means they will not excuse even a single case of
drunk driving.
Hsu Kuo-yung had to make the comments because of something he had said
earlier.
He said before that the government will not be doing certain traffic stops so
it can focus on fighting the novel coronavirus 新型冠狀病毒.
Minister Hsu says local police will continue to do regular stops, but that
the national police will not do their twice-a-month 一個月兩次 stops for now.
He says they made the decision so more police officers can be used to help
stop the spread of the virus.
