常言道:「小病是福」,小病不想看醫生,就可以利用食材的天然功效,例如食東南亞菜常見的香茅,除了味道清香,其實功效甚多,香茅性溫,能疏風解表、祛瘀通絡,用熱水沖泡香茅茶飲用,有助紓緩初起風寒感冒,症狀包括怕冷、頭痛、頸部肌肉痠軟、喉嚨痕癢、咳嗽痰色白、鼻塞流清鼻涕等;亦有助紓緩不時發作的風濕痺痛、胃痛。
呈長條狀的香茅該用哪一部份?香茅整條都能使用,其葉片和莖外層較硬,剝開後也可以用來泡茶,而入廚則多數取用內裡較嫰的部份,一般取用後2/3段的香茅莖,斜切片或粒使用,切之前先用刀背拍一拍,有助香味散發。
香茅 ── 又名檸檬草,性溫,有疏風解表、祛瘀通絡的功效,適合風寒感冒咳嗽、胃痛、泄瀉、風濕痺痛時食用。

Lemongrass against minor ailments
‘Minor ailments are considered blessings’, if we do not wish to consult a doctor, we can opt for natural remedy like lemongrass, which is commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisine.
Besides its pleasant fragrance, lemongrass has many effects. It is warm in nature, can expel wind to relieve exterior syndrome, promote the meridian and clear blood stasis. Drinking lemongrass that has been boiled in hot water can relieve cold-related flu at the early stage, which carries symptoms such as aversion to cold, headache, sore neck muscles, itchy throat, white phlegm, nose block and clear mucus. Lemongrass can also relieve pain that is caused by rheumatism and gastritis.
Which part of the lemongrass should we use then? We can use the entire stem, but the outer leaves tend to be thicker. Once they are peeled off, we can use the outer coat to make tea, and save the softer inner part for cooking. The last 2/3 of the stem is normally used in cooking, and they will be sliced diagonally or diced into small bits. Smack the lemongrass with a knife’s back to release the fragrance.

With these early signs of a cold, you can try having warm lemon water to improve your immunity and even try healing effects from herbal and floral teas! You can find these teas in many super markets or some cafes are also beginning to have them. With hot wind flu, you should have chrysanthemum, mint, and burdock tea. Wind cold flu, you should have lemongrass, rosemary or dry ginger. Those teas can be brewed with hot water and fresh or dry herbs to relieve symptoms of discomfort. If the condition persists or worsens, you should seek professional medical treatment.
Hot wind flu symptoms: fever, headache, sore throat, cough, yellow phlegm, dry mouth, thick and yellow mucus.
Cold wind flu symptoms: aversion to cold, headache, neck muscle soreness, itchy throat, coughing, white phlegm, stuffed nose, clear mucus.
Mint - cool in nature, has the effect of dispelling wind heat and relieve rash, suitable for wind heat flu, throat discomfort, mouth sores, hot cough, yellow phlegm and toothache. Those with yin deficiency should drink less.
Chrysanthemum, chamomile - cold in nature, has the effect of calming the mind and dispel wind and relieve pain , can also relieve flu symptoms due to hot wind and pain.
Lemongrass - warm in nature, has the effect of dispel wind and relieve pain, can also relieve stasis and dredge the meridians. It is suitable for cold wind flu, cough, stomach pain ,diarrhea and pain.

3)蜜糖 適量
蜜糖含豐富葡萄糖、果糖、多種維他命,例如-B1、B2、D、E 、以及微量元素:鈣、鐵、銅、鉀、磷,可以補虛潤燥、止痛、解毒、補脾胃,舒緩肺燥咳嗽、便秘、支氣管炎等(適量食用),排毒美肌、有助增強抵抗力,改善鼻敏感(適量食用),蜜糖含有少量抗氧化劑,有美肌功效
食用禁忌 :
一歲以下小朋友,避免食蜜糖。由於幼兒的消化系統仍未發育完全,有可能引起腸胃不適等狀況
4) 香茅 3 枝
驅風、㪚寒、通絡、舒緩風寒感冒症狀、
材料:
1)香茅用刀背拍,切段,拿取香茅尾段
2)薑用刀背拍一拍更出味
3)青檸碌一碌,切片
4)水大滾,將香茅和薑放入鍋,焗大約15分鐘
然後熄火焗約 20 分鐘
5)略略放涼會,可以按自己口味加入青檸汁、加少許蜜糖 ,完成
(由於只取蜜糖滋潤功效、味道,所以少熱也不怕)
