Do you know the first pitcher from Taiwan to play in Major League Baseball (MLB)? He was signed by the Colorado Rockies in 1999, and made his major league debut at Coors Field (the Rockies stadium) on July 25, 2003. He made history again on August 18, 2003 by being the first Taiwan player to get a hit. He then joined the Los Angeles Dodgers and Kansas City Royals. After few years of playing in the Chinese Professional Baseball League, he signed a new contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2014, and returned to MLB in 2015, eight years after his last MLB appearance. As we approach opening day, the Facebook data team is releasing several maps detailing Major League Baseball fandom across the US.
The first map displays Facebook fans of all MLB teams by county. Each county is color-coded based on which official Facebook team page has the most likes from people who live in that area. The other two maps are breakouts that show which two teams expanded their fan bases the most from the start of the 2014 season until now. (Hint: both were in the World Series)
Here are a few other interesting takeaways:
- Yankees are the most-liked team by county overall, and have a plurality of fans in at least one county in 24 states.
- Royals have a plurality of fans in more Kansas and Nebraska counties than in their home state of Missouri.
- No US counties have a plurality of fans who like the New York Mets, Oakland Athletics or Toronto Blue Jays. However, the Blue Jays dominate most of Canada; the Facebook data team included Canadian census divisions this year.
- While the Dodgers dominate Southern California, the Giants have a plurality of fans in counties acfoss Northern California and the the middle ground of Central California.
- Despite being sandwiched between the Rockies and Diamondbacks, and being close to teams like the Dodgers and Angels, it's the Yankees and Red Sox that have a plurality of fans in most counties.
- Giants have a plurality of fans on all but one Hawaiian Island. The Yankees dominate Oahu, where capital Honolulu is located.

This is Youtube Channel about Japanese girl and boy twins KahoSei's life in Canada. On 2015 summer, Kahosei moved into Canada from Japan. It is our first time living abroad. This Channel started from Kaho's remark of 'I want to be like Kan & Akira (who is super Youtuber kids in Japan.)' KahoSei is not "super" Youtuber, but we are now Youtuber.
