美台安全合作不只關注傳統安全威脅，也強調「非傳統」的安全威脅，包括網路攻擊、自然災害、氣候變遷的影響，以及不實資訊，其中我們特別著重安全的科技與網絡，以支持我們的數位活動和經濟發展。那麼，為什麼安全的5G這麼重要呢？

AIT經濟組組長安恬8月6日於2020國際創業家大賽致詞表示：「美國支持全球數位經濟的蓬勃發展，希望所有人都能從5G不可限量的未來中受益。5G網絡將改變未來生活和經濟的各個樣貌，包括支援交通、配電和遠端醫療等關鍵基礎設施，因此5G的重要性不可輕忽。世界各國、企業和人民需要能夠信任5G設備、軟體和服務公司不會威脅到國家安全、隱私、經濟主權、智慧財產權或人權。」

💪🏻SECURITY COOPERATION MONTH: “REAL FRIENDS, REAL PROGRESS”🤝

The Security Cooperation between the United States and Taiwan focuses on both traditional and what we call “non-traditional” security threats, such as cyberattacks, natural disasters and the impacts of climate change, and disinformation. One area we are especially focused on is secure technology and networks to support our digital activities and economies. So why is secure 5G so important?....

“United States advocates for a vibrant digital economy worldwide that enables all people to benefit from the promise of 5G wireless networks. 5G networks are expected to touch every aspect of our lives and economy, including critical infrastructure such as transportation, electrical distribution, and telemedicine. Therefore, the stakes could not be higher. Countries, companies, and citizens need to be able to trust that 5G equipment, software, and service companies will not threaten national security, privacy, economic sovereignty, intellectual property, or human rights.” -- AIT Economic Section Chief Dannielle Andrews’ remarks at Taiwan Startup Terrace Global Hack 2020 on August 6.

有人記得我們去年AIT@40八月份的主題嗎？沒錯！就是「安全合作月」！去年八月，我們推出了「印太安全事務領袖參訪計畫」，也跟著AIT處長酈英傑造訪美國製基隆級飛彈驅逐艦及AAV7兩棲突擊車，並宣布總價22億美元的對台軍售案。處長酈英傑也在去年就美台安全關係發表年度演說，並接待了許多自美國軍校畢業的台灣校友。精彩活動讓人意猶未盡，所以，今年八月我們決定再辦一次「安全合作月」！我們將於本月份持續凸顯美台在過去和現在的安全合作關係。敬請期待本月份的特別活動，以及美台安全關係重要歷史時刻回顧貼文！#2020SecurityCooperationMonth #懷舊星期四 #ThrowBackThursday #TBT #RealFriendsRealProgress #真朋友真進展

💪🏻SECURITY COOPERATION MONTH: “REAL FRIENDS, REAL PROGRESS”🤝

Does anyone remember the AIT@40 theme for August? That’s right, it was Security Cooperation Month! Last August, we launched the Indo-Pacific Security Fellows program, joined AIT Director Christensen on a visit to the Kee-Lung-class guided-missile destroyer and a U.S.-made AAV7 Assault Amphibious Vehicle, and announced 2.2 billion in new defense equipment sales to Taiwan. Director Christensen also gave a speech about his priorities for the U.S.-Taiwan security relationship and hosted a reception for the many Taiwanese alumni of U.S. military service academies. Well…we have decided to do it again! Throughout August, we will continue to highlight the many dimensions of U.S.-Taiwan security cooperation, past and present.
