Does the bodybuilding program different than powerlifting program? Yes, the power lifter must do the squat, bench and deadlift , and the goal is to do one rep max,while a bodybuilder you can make an argument with benefit from using a squat or deadlift, but you can't say a squat is more important than a row. Because the goal for body builder is to build symmetrical development the whole body. One thing, bodybuilder can learn a lot from power lifters, is that progressive overloads, because power lifters always try to lift more weights in their mind. And they used the 3 very affective movements, so I think a bodybuilder should have a core group compounds movements and they stick with and becomes expert with. There should be some strength focus, but it is good to train varieties of rep ranges. A squat is a not must, even a leg press can do so, so long if you can take the progressive overload principles, fill up the gaps that you may not get from that development from leg presses (ex: weighted back extension).
Ps: don't be afraid to squat and deadlift, your waist size won't grow from it. Why? My undies couldn't fit properly after I diet down to my current size.
