【🎯Accel Recon: Back from the Front Lines🎯 】
A big thanks to our panelists Ed Deng (CEO of Health2Sync 智抗糖, Ocean Lin (Co-founder of Trip+), and Ben Chang (CEO of Diuit) for coming out to share what it’s really like at overseas accelerators Income Future Starter (Powered by TAG.PASS), 500 Startups, and NYC Media Lab. With such a different mix of programs, there was a little something for everyone in our audience! Here are a few highlights:
☑️Survival of the Fittest! 🏋️♀️ 🤼♀️
Be aggressive and ask for what you want. Mentors can’t help you if they don’t know what you need. And, resources like office hours can be limited (sometimes you’ll have to fight for them!), so make the most of them by preparing well beforehand.
☑️ Time is Money ⏱ 💵
Do weigh the time cost to your startup. Taking part or all of your team overseas for weeks to months at a time can set back product development and disrupt team dynamics (not to mention having never-ending days of night conference calls to the team back home!).
☑️You’re the Captain! 🚢 📢
Part of the challenge can be receiving more advice than you know what to do with! Ultimately, it’s up to you to know what’s good for your startup, and to decide which direction to go. Join with a clear understanding of what your startup needs to avoid losing your way.
