Hello, friends! Here's my answer to a question I got today.
I started learning Arabic because I lived in Dubai and was surrounded by the Emirati culture. I had to take it as a school subject, which I enjoyed, but I didn’t take it too seriously and didn’t really appreciate the power of language learning. After moving to South Africa, my mom and I decided to learn Korean together. We had some Korean friends in Dubai and they were always very hospitable, sharing their culture, food and stories with us. I think that was part of the reason we decided to learn, even though we didn’t know much about Korea as a country. After visiting Korea for the first time in 2010, I really fell in love with the culture - the mix between old and new; modern and traditional. Korean people are very friendly to foreigners and get excited when they hear you’re interested in their language and culture. Having a warm welcome like that really helps with motivation to learn the language! And of course, visiting a country helps you practice the language and make new friends, which in turn motivates me to keep studying. My parents moved to Japan for work when I was in university, and I was able to visit Japan twice a year over the span of four years. I absolutely fell in love with the Japanese culture. The Japanese pay attention to the tiniest of details and are extremely organized, precise and polite. I found this pleasant and enjoyed working in a Japanese company for a while - all the more motivation to improve my Japanese language. I guess I can say the story remains the same for each language after that - if people are warm, friendly, polite and interesting, I’m immediately captivated and inspired to learn their language. What are your thoughts?

Hello all,
This is the one of saddest photo I have seen in my life...
There is a family who is just trying to live a normal life... They don't care about to go Sturbucks or show off everyone what luxury clothes they wear.
They call this dead trip ''hope''. Maybe they have only 2%-3% chance to go Greece by boat but they are still trying in everyday... Because they have no chance. No one knows how to swimming and also boat is so poor quality and life vest is the cheapest one...
This small kid and his sister has passed away a few days before.
Turkish police found them on the beach and the guy who carried those bodies said ''I couldn't even look their faces. We all imagined they could be our childrens. I hardly kept myself not to cry''
In Turkey there are more than 5 million Syrians living here at the moment. Turkish government gave them some space at the beginning but now this situation is getting out of control!
They are muslim, they believe Allah but rich arabic countries doesn't accept them like Suidi Arabia!
Yes my friends. War never gives you something you want or good life. Only chaos and lost families.
And please treasure your life... Sometimes we all complain about what we don't have such as new clothes, cars, houses but never forget that there are so many people in outside taking risk of their life for only just to find a safe place to live...
Thank you,
Emre

Hello World,
A proud Singapore mother came to me today, joyfully announcing her 15 year old boy has solved "#cherylsbirthday" today. I'm glad that her son is able to solve the math set rightfully for his age. But most importantly, she made me checked my page again, and realised, wow, that post was already a week old. How time flies.....
Please allow me to share my feelings to this saga.
Thank you everyone who shared the post. You gave me 3 days of fame. My name made it to all major media on this planet, because of you (CNN, BBC, NY Times, Straits Times, Apple Daily, Sin Chew Daily and tons more).
I'm grateful and touched. Not because of how the post reached out to the world, but how the world reached out to me. I see my post shared in all kinds of languages (Chinese, Cantonese, German, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Burmese, Bahasa Indonesian, Bahasa Melayu, Spanish, Finnish, etc.), that instinct to challenge brainy friends, that urge to seek for an answer to a puzzle, the effort to translate it into your language, so your fellow countrymen will not be left out, I see how attractive knowledge and science can be.
Some, choose not to comment publicly. They exchange their solutions and doubts through private messages. I have to tell you, I was struggling with Google Translate, as the messages too came in all sorts of languages, and I respect people who speaks and write in their mother tongue, I just hope they too understand my reply in simple English. Its a wonder, how we can still communicate while each of us speaking (typing) different languages.
You, show me sparkles.
Sparkles of wisdom, science and language. Sparkles of the wonder of diversity and unity.
Now, as the world has paid its attention on me, what does a humble TV host on a small island can offer back to the world?
I hope, through my humble island-life, opened a small window for you, to peep into a dimension which can be thousands of miles away from you. And while you chance upon my life, share a piece of your life with me too. My life might not be long enough for me to step on every soil on earth, but I'm sure that my mind is open enough to welcome the world.
Lastly, never stop challenging yourself. (and the world, if you have time)
Kenneth.
