Labels allow us to make sense of the world without much effort. Even the #hashtag culture is, in a way, a product of our subconscious habit of labelling. On the positive side, hashtags can help to build communities; but at the same time, it’s also tempting to conform to trends and create content just to fit in with such communities.
Through her multimedia installation “The Pink Room Experience” @the_pinkroom_, singer-songwriter @wongyuenb prompted us to look at the kind of impact labelling has – are we letting labels (and hashtags) define us and our worldview?
