#CTriTalk: 5 years apart - at least I got my helmet right this time. Lol!

The pic on the left was taken at OCBC Cycle 2013, where I borrowed a friend’s bike to try the 40km ride. My nether regions hurt so bad after that I couldn’t pee properly for the next few days (that’s why bike fit is so impt!). 🤣🤣🤣 I didn’t cycle anymore after that, until December 2015 when I picked it up again with a borrowed bike.

Decided I like cycling enough and wanted to try triathlons, so I got my own bike finally (a roadie called Tough Princess). Then I tried my first Ironman 70.3, convinced myself that I wanna do more and along came Queen Bitch. The rest is history!

I remember being scared of riding on the roads and I didn’t really like cycling then. And now I’m training for my first full Ironman. Crazy!! Look how much has changed in the last 5 years... what will happen in the next 5? 🤔🤔🤔

#CTriTalk 6: Does your period affect training? It does for me. The usual PMS includes fatigue, irritability, water retention, increased cravings for junk and a bloated tummy... and I also feel like I’m not able to “push” per usual so the timings drop, or I have to put in extra effort (like damn chuan) to maintain the same times. My PMS starts about 10 days before the actual period so for nearly half the month I can be a grouchy b*tch. LOL. I try not to let this demoralise me and just continue with training anyway; when your energy levels come back you will feel much better. Oh and this is a #throwback to last year’s Ironman 70.3 Danang - where I was absolutely struggling, geez. 9 more days to this year’s Ironman 70.3 Danang!!! #cheryltayworksout

#CTriTalk 6: Summer freckles all year round!
••••••••
I love my freckles. It’s a result of being exposed to the sun a lot, a consequence of triathlon training. I don’t have an issue with them, but I do get many people shaking their heads in disapproval, clicking their tongues tsk tsk tsk, at how “ugly” my face is with all these freckles.
•
And I keep being told to put on sunblock - I do!!! I apply on my face and I also eat sunblock pills.

Societal beauty standards deem freckles as bad, but I think it looks healthy and matches my tan! Are you one of those who get freckles easily too? It shouldn’t bother you!
