Information on the H1B visa for the United States (from François Dereeper)
"Hi,
so I’ve had a bunch of question asked about the H1B since the post of Yigit Keskin.
So let me write a little something about the H1B VISA for the USA.
If you want real informations go on the USCIS web site (http://www.uscis.gov). I did it myself and that’s where I got all the informations I needed.
What you should do is download the form M-735 to help you fill the form I-129. Most of the informations you need are written on the form M-735. You won’t have to fill in every pages of the I-129.
You will also need a LCA (Labor Condition Application) number. (https://icert.doleta.gov). I think that should be the first thing you do.
It was a long and pretty stressful process, the first time I sent the form they sent it back cause I forgot a few things so fill and send everything as soon as you can !
You’ll need a copy of all your diploma and also all the grades you got to get the diploma. I’m french so I also had to pay a certified company to translate all my documents.
There are a few documents that your employer has to give also, so you need to make sure your employer wants you and is willing to help.
And of course you’ll need money… I paid something like $4000. If you take a lawyer, it will cost you $2000 more but it will be faster, and you’ll have more chance to have the VISA cause the lawyer will tell you what you forgot.
I hope that can help some of you. I don’t have all the answers but i guess that’s a start
Good luck !"
I'm hoping this list will stop (or at least dramatically reduce) the number of people asking exactly the same question over again.
Also, can I ask people to do a search in this group to see if the information you are after has been asked before? There is a magnifying glass towards the bottom right-hand corner of the image at the top of the page; click on this, and type in your keywords.
If anyone can suggest any other sites to add, then please contact me by Private Message.
