Last Sunday, we all went out for the first time since Dr Auntie moved into #TheOldForgeCottage 🏡 And to commemorate this special first time, we chose to go to none other than your favourite place. We ordered all your favourite food - we even sat at the same table from when we last came here with you.

It may be more than two years since you left us, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll fade from our memories. You have been an ever-present figure in our lives. You’ve been there from the very start - ever since all three of us were born, in fact.

You were there when we learned to talk. You were there when we learned to walk. You were there to crack a joke and make us laugh. You were there to wipe our tears when we cried. You were always there for all of us through our ups and downs.

As time passes, your memory does not go weaker. No, quite the opposite. We will always carry on missing you terribly. We will carry on revisiting these memories of you. We will carry on revisiting the places where we made those memories with you. And, as we have done with this subtle but special outing to one of your favourite places, we will always bring a bit of you with us, no matter where we are…

We were at the new house today to take some measurements, and it was snowing very heavily. All the green grass that was visible to our eyes yesterday was now covered under a thick blanket of snow. As I watched the heavy snowflakes fall and hit the ground with the background noise of Fatimah and Ali having fun, running around the empty house giggling in joy, I couldn’t help but think about you.

I wish you were here with us to enjoy this beautiful moment. I wish you were here with us as we moved forward to the next step in our life journey. But I guess where you are now is much more beautiful than we could ever imagine. You know what, Mamajee? There’s an apple tree in our cottage’s garden. I can almost hear your excited voice when I saw the tree. As we are in winter, there were no leaves left. Only a few overripe apples.

We wanted to pluck it, but Mrs Mom stopped us. She said "We have more than enough apples at home. Let’s leave it there for the birds and squirrels to enjoy." And she reminded us not to be selfish and never forget to always seek the blessings of The Almighty in every little thing we do in our daily lives. What an angel she is!

As we all gathered and watched the beautiful heavy snow fall, Mrs Mom added, "Let us all pray for Mamajee…"

As we gather for Eid-ul-Adha this year, we can’t help but miss you so much. It’s like only yesterday when you were laughing and playing with us. Eid brings back so many happy memories, and they bring tears to our eyes. Even though you’re not here to share this year’s Eid with us, we know that you’re looking on and smiling along with us! We pray that Allah reunites us all in Jannah...

Before we go any further, we just want to say that we love you VERY VERY MUCH! There’s not a day that goes by when we don’t think about you.
