故事要從去年10月說起...
當時我陸續派遣88名外交替代役男到海外服務
但不料年初 #武漢肺炎 全球蔓延
#魔法部 一方面請外館在疫情期間
確保這群國家棟樑的健康與安全
另方面也從6月起協助安排他們安全回國退役
但是!! 派駐在南太平洋友邦 #吐瓦魯 🇹🇻的3名役男
卻歷經重重波折...
吐瓦魯今年3月宣布中斷所有海空交通以來
我們多次嘗試用包機或包船想把他們送離吐國
但不斷遭遇像是無法取得降落許可
或是鄰近國家 #禁止非船員 自海上入境等窘境...
好在我國 海洋委員會 英勇的 #海巡署 出手啦 👊🏻
派遣在太平洋公海出任務的 #巡護八號 公務船
在8月21日航經吐瓦魯時接濟這3名役男
然後!! 同時也把2名滯留在當地的日籍工作者
通通做一次載回來 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
完成這趴海上往返 #超過1萬4千公里 的歷史壯舉‼️

Welcome home, chaps!
Since October of last year, 88 recruits have been serving their substitute military service on diplomatic missions to 15 of our allies around the world. Due to the outbreak of #COVID19 earlier this year, MOFA has made every effort to provide our recruits with #PPE and ensure their safety. From June this year, despite border closures in many countries, the majority were able to return home safe and sound as their commission ended.
Among these returnees are 3 recruits who were posted to #Tuvalu. They finally returned home today after 16 days at sea on a Taiwan Coast Guard Administration vessel. The country had closed its air and sea borders in March as a preventative measure against the #coronavirus, so all previous efforts to return them didn't pan out. The ship also took two Japanese nationals who had been working in Tuvalu and were trapped by the border controls back to Taiwan, one step further on their onward journey home.
