When I first had this idea to run a competition to find the fittest in Singapore and give the community a reason to train for and get together, it was a little wild and some say ambitious, but I knew it could be done and I wanted to do it. A lot didn't understand why. Maybe this little set of photos can explain it all.
I saw the passion from the athletes who made it out early and fought hard through the pain, the camaraderie of the team events, the enthusiasm from the crowd who stayed and cheered the athletes on, the community spirit that shone through when athletes make sure no one is left behind, the love and support from all who understand and breathe fitness, and the different groups of fitness (eg. runners, lifters, bodybuilders, yogis) who came together for this. What do you see?
It hasn't been an easy road to get this running and this is only Round 1 (Endurance), but hey, I'm only getting started! smile emoticon Round 2 (Power) is on 19 July before the Grand Final on 18 October!
This wouldn't have been possible without the support and help from my friends -
Thank you Lewis Buffalo Chua for agreeing to join me; Devina Pronolo for the coordinating (and earning a friendship in the process); my #fitfam Kelly Latimer-Loi for being an awesome emcee; Andrew Khoo and Sam for the great photos; Hisyam Osz for the sick videos; Joycelyn Xie for being my extra pair of hands; my judges Daryl Cheng, Ikhthiar, Jeremy Teng, Ian, Darren Stephen Lim, Amirrudin Ong, Ryan and Gene.
Thank you to all the athletes who competed - it really means a lot to me to have you part of this and you guys are the stars of the show. Thank you to the media for the coverage. Thank you to all the spectators who came down to watch. Thank you to all friends who made an effort to drop by to see me or send me a text. Thank you for all the favours from ever helpful friends, from helping to carry stuff, spreading the word about the event and checking in on me to make sure I sleep/eat/drink. Owe you guys one.
Of course, the partners are super important too. Without them, there is no way this could have happened, Elite Pro Nutrition, Bugis Junction, FHM SINGAPORE, Absolute Zero, Solitude Of Strength, Starwater, COCOLOCO, Snack Guru!
And to those who stood by me through the entire process - you know who you are.
