在科幻片《＃星際效應》中，曾有段詩句被反覆提起，「不要溫順地走入那良夜」，用來鼓勵人們要勇敢面對遭遇的困難，向廣闊的宇宙尋求解答。
而這句話，其實出自於威爾斯詩人Dylan Thomas，寫來鼓勵父親面對「#生命流逝」的詩〈Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night〉。
在本集《漫談英文詩》中，＃廖雅慧 老師將介紹這首詩背後的意涵，失去的日光、發怒、生命、流逝，作者描繪四種不同類型的人在夜晚不願入眠的情境，期許不要因為年華老去，就對生命失去熱情，而是要奮力活出生命不屈服的樣貌。
同時廖老師也會介紹另一首關於「＃失去」的作品，Elizabeth Bishop的〈One Art〉讓我們在詩文中感受對於失去的思念與哀傷。

1. One Art

so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.
Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.
Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.
I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.
I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn’t a disaster.
