Ronald Siegel, PsyD
Personal Mindfulness Practice: Letting Go of Self-Preoccupation to Deepen Connection with Clients
1. Scott Miller, clients, questionnaire (Session Rating Scale), “did you feel your therapist was present?”, “did you feel that session was useful?”, “did you feel that the therapist were understanding?”, and 讓個案感覺到治療師是 warm, empathyc and understanding. Scott Miller 注重四個elements: relationship, goals and topics, approach or method, overall.
https://www.scottdmiller.com/wp-content/uploads/documents/SessionRatingScale-JBTv3n1.pdf
2. Dan Siegel’s phrase, “feel, felt, client improves.” According to Siegel, “feeling felt” is characteristic of secure infant-parent relationships: the more infants “feel felt”, the better their attachment and the sounder their development pathway.

https://www.mannaz.com/en/articles/personal-growth/the-importance-of-feeling-felt/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sv2bu2KqoyI
3. Empathy, Carl Rogers so brilliantly defined empathy as “to feel the feeling of another, as if it were one’s own, but without losing perspective of ‘as if’”
5. The more we practice mindfulness, the more we’re wholeheartedly present, the more we can open our hearts, the more we can lower our defenses.
6. Be present 是 keyword.
7. 很多助人者都在一種狀態:“me (therapist) worrying about me, seeing you (client) worrying you, and judging each other.” 其實我們可以擁有另外一種角度,“me feel connected, me feel a sense of being part of a “we” with you (patient).”
8. So often make us to disconnect in therapy is we’re shutting down because it’s hard to empathically attune to others’ pain. And particularly if clients’ pain resonates with our issues, our vulnerabilities, with our unresolved small or large T trauma, then we tend to shut down when the person is talking about something that we tend to shut down on ourselves. So To the extend to which these practices allow us to open to our own broken hearts, we are able to open the broken heart of our patients.
Dukkha (life is suffering, the mind is frequently complaining). (if it’s not one thing, it is another. Your mind is always complaining about something.
(no solid me))。

The international language of colors
Colors may be universally associated with ( ) certain emotions, a study has found.
Red is pinned ( ) to love or anger, blue to sadness or black to death, and similar links appear to exist in other parts of the world.
Even where colors weren't solidly attributed to ( ) a single emotion, nearly all of them were either mostly good or mostly bad regardless of ( ) where people lived.
But on a smaller, more detailed scale there were nuances ( ) which researchers said they could use to predict which country someone came from.
Scientists from the universities of Auckland, Lausanne in Switzerland and Johannes Gutenber in Mainz, Germany carried out ( ) their research on 711 people.
The participants all came from either the UK, Germany, Greece or China, and answered to rate how colors made them feel.
The colors included in the study were white, black, grey, red, yellow, green, blue, orange, purple, pink, brown and turquoise ( ).
They were shown to people in word form rather than images because the study was done online and researchers need to be sure screens were showing the same.
And people ranked how closely they linked them to the following emotions: anger, interest, amusement, pride, joy, pleasure, contentment ( ), admiration, love, relief ( ), compassion, sadness, guilt, regret, shame, disappointment, fear, disgust, contempt ( ) or hate.
The researchers, led by Johannes Gutenber University's Dr. Daniel Oberfeld, wrote: 'Red is associated with both positive and negative emotions while black is unambiguously ( ) associated with negative emotions.
'In the current study, red was often associated with love and anger, while black was associated with sadness, hate and fear among other negative emotions.'
Other colors which had strong associations across countries were pink with love, grey with disappointment or sadness and orange with joy or pleasure.
Some other colors, however, had more nuanced associations.
For example, people in Greece were far more likely to associate turquoise with relief and purple with sadness than those in other countries.
While people in the UK and Germany strongly associated yellow with joy, but Greek and Chinese people did not feel the same link.
Almost all the colors, even if they didn't have a solid link to one emotion, were either overwhelmingly ( ) good or bad – with the exception ( ) of red, which was linked to both anger and love, and purple and brown, which were neither.
Positive colors were yellow, white, turquoise, pink, orange and green. Negative were grey and black.
Dr. Oberfeld's team added: 'Particularly strong color-emotion associations were observed for red, black, and pink, and particularly weak associations were observed for brown and purple.
'Across the 240 color–emotion pairs, the strongest association was found between the emotion love and the color term red.

It’s been said that “space exploration is a force unto itself”, a statement that can aptly be applied to the experience of music discovery. A purveyor of a music with that timeless quality, Ferry Corsten actioned himself into taking his own artist exploration deeper with his fifth artist album. Entitled ‘Blueprint’ because of his technical approach to this latest studio outing. This newest longplayer by the Rotterdam native was spawned from an idea to unite the music with a storyline that stretches beyond a nebulous lyrical theme. Combining his love for the art of screenwriting and film score Ferry has crafted ‘Blueprint’ as a concept release to put a wider perspective on his musical vision.
Transcending any referential genre, ‘Blueprint’s storyline centres around two protagonists in Lukas and the extra-terrestrial being Vee. From a discovery to a bond to consciousness to interdimensional travel, ‘Blueprint’ embarks on a journey across the galaxy asking many questions from its listeners.
Encapsulated in the soundtrack is a musical narrative that entwines with a storyboard crafted by the minds of David H Miller (of House Of Cards and Rosewood fame) and Ferry himself. The resulting effort gives the listener a conceptual direction that is breathtakingly beautiful. Narrated by Hollywood actor Campbell Scott (known for The Amazing Spider-Man and The Exorcism of Emily Rose), whose voice unravels the mystery of ‘Blueprint’s storyline.
Written into the musical code of the album we learn that from the deepest edges of space ‘The Drum’ can be heard, endlessly repeating, without any understanding as to its reason or purpose. None of the greatest minds on earth nor governmental superpower can decipher its existence. Except one. As the listener journeys from the opening track to the last the album chronicles the voyage of Lukas and Vee as a new world is opened to not just the mind but the heart.
With its opening title track ‘Blueprint’ the album commences in wondrous form straddling euphoria and seduction at its heart, as it shoots for the stars setting up for a cosmic ballet. The atmospherical payoff of ‘Venera (Vee’s Theme)’ is enchantingly uplifting, as listeners have their first encounter with Vee. The vocal of Eric Lumiere adds depth to the character’s arrival with ‘Something To Believe In’ before ‘Edge Of The Skye’, featuring Haliene, ignites an odyssey to ‘A World Beyond’. The weaving metronomic build of ‘Trust’ is industriously rich and perfectly poised for this interstellar exploration. Whilst the otherworldly tones of ‘Lonely Inside’ beam us into the isolation of Space and renders all meaning beyond one emotion, desire. The sentiment on Haliene’s voice pierces through on the tense ‘Piece of You’ before we head into the third act and encounter “The Drum” again on ‘Drum's A Weapon’. The album majestically concludes with the beautiful combo of Haliene & Eric Lumiere on ‘Another Sunrise’ and the ‘Eternity’ with its Shepherd scale-esque splendour.
With the narrative that gives nods to the proses of iconic sci-fi authors such as Jules Verne, Hugo Gernsback and most distinctively HG Wells, whilst sharing familiarities with modern day shows such as The OA, Westworld and retro Sci-fi-fest Stranger Things, ‘Blueprint’ is an explorative piece of work that puts Sci-fi at its interstellar core. A brave and unique studio release from one of the most iconic artists in the electronic scene but Ferry’s attempts with ‘Blueprint’ are simply to bring a wider perspective to the listener, as he aims the album to be inclusive of dimensions of religion, history, ideals and science fiction.
