Most people get stuck in their work and are so wrapped up in it they forget about the people around them.

One of my favorite methods of training my brain to get things done fast is with timeblocking.

Timeblocking is when you set a deadline of how long you will allow yourself to work on a task.

The work you have to do will fill how much time you have to do it.
.
How many projects have you had where you had many weeks to do it, but you left it to the last minute and finished it the day or the night before?
.
This is that principle at work.
.
So set a realistic deadline to train your brain to accomplish what it takes to save you the time to accomplish the next task, and the next.
.
That way, you can never let a loved one down because you are too "busy".
And because you now have that down time and can recharge, you can come back to work and work even harder because you are refreshed.

Do yourself a favor and steal this strategy.

Happiness is truly an inside job.
What I’ve learned over the recent years is that happiness is something that we choose for ourselves. It is not in accordance to someone else’s rhythm, merely our own.
To some, finding happiness on their own is a quest. While for others, they depend on other people to make them happy. But have you ever stopped to think how amazing it would feel to start by making yourself happy, instead of waiting on others to make you happy?
I find it selfish when people are heavily dependent on someone else to make them happy as if it was their responsibility. Being happy on your own is already challenging enough what more having someone else put that accountability on you which just adds more stress to that person’s life.
The truth is, if you always expect others to make you happy, you’ll probably end up getting hurt or disappointed.
I sometimes sit down and ponder why people rely so much on others to make them happy and complain when their needs are not fulfilled by that person. Is it because they are avoiding the real work and effort needed to be put in to find joy in themselves? Or is it easier to be irresponsible and blame everyone but yourself when things go wrong?
Whatever it is, when you assign someone or a situation that much power over your life, you can easily fall and crumble when things go south. You can’t control other people, you can only control your own reactions to them.
If you ever find yourself feeling angry or hung up on unpleasant circumstances, take a few steps back to reflect on yourself and why you’re feeling a certain way. Be honest, recognise your feelings and own up to them.
Then, move forward by taking the steps needed to improve the situation in order to make yourself feel better.
Here are some of the ways you can be happy;
- Practise acceptance and gratitude (lots of it!)
- Complain less
- Train your brain to look for the good in your life
- Embrace change and alone time
- Do not empower other people to have power over you.
- Replace thoughts that encourage self-pity
- Make peace with your past
- Be self-sufficient
- Invest in yourself
- Be in love with your future. She awaits you ❤️
