So I brought the kids to two playgrounds today, one indoor and one outdoor, and thought that I could finally catch up on my novel that I started reading months ago but couldn't find the chance to finish.
Not surprisingly, I did take out the book but didn't even manage to finish reading a line throughout the entire afternoon and evening. Nor did I get to finish my cup of hot tea while it was still hot.
The big girl would ask me to go and see her new 'tricks', the little sister would call "Mama" and ask me to go watch whatever she was playing with and the baby brother (who isn't such a baby already) well, he just wouldn't let me out of his sight.
It turned out that we found this great spot inside the playground and for once, I found the patience, time and motivation to do something the girls have been wanting to do - I taught them how to do a cartwheel (tried to do them myself too because I loved it as a kid), how to do forward rolls, showed them arm balance and scorpion poses (on my phone, duh) and helped them to practise their splits and handstands too! Yup, they are very much into such stuff nowadays.
We spent hours doing all these and some of the other kids in the playground were so interested that they came to join us and we made new friends, chatted and played together. It was a warm, fuzzy feeling I felt and yup, despite the fact that I can't stretch for nuts nowadays (are stretchmarks counted?), I think we should have more of such yoga/gymnastics/just-do-whatever you-want-sessions more often.
