The most beautiful season of the year is coming in the town of Kakunodate where little pink cherry blossoms are about to bloom.
Kakunodate Town in Semboku City, Akita Prefecture in Tohoku is a very elegant town, also named as "Little Kyoto in Michinoku". The famous Bukeyashiki Streets (streets of the samurai residences) have 162 weeping cherry trees which are designated as a natural monument of Japan will soon be in full bloom including the Yoshino cherry trees in the shoreside of Hinokinai (nationally designated scenic spot by "Japan Sakura attractions 100 election").
The cherry blossom festival is held every year from late April to early May, and various events such as light up of samurai residences, traditional arts and concerts on special stage are scheduled to be held.
