英國作家 Alain de Botton 第一本愛情小說 "Essays in Love" 裏，男女主角拍拖幾個月男生也沒有和對方說 'I Love You'。原因並不是害怕承諾、也不是吝嗇於情感表達，而是覺得世界上每一對情侶也用'I Love You'三個字去表達愛意，但明明每一個人的愛也是不一樣的。直到女生慶祝生日的晚飯到尾聲時見到侍應把甜品 Marshmallow 捧出來的時候，他找到對女朋友的愛最適合的形容詞'I Marshmallow You'。
黃靖新歌 'I Marshmallow You' 受這故事啟發，寫了一首形容情侶之間恍似密探一般用暗號互表愛意的情歌。而且邀請了新世代電音女唱作人楊彤做 featuring 合作。
