ทาง Criterion Games ผู้พัฒนา Need For Speed Heat ที่รับช่วงต่อมาจาก Ghost Games เตรียมที่จะปล่อย Patch อัปเดตสุดท้ายของเกมออกมาในไม่ช้านี้ ซึ่งพวกเขากล่าวว่าตอนนี้การพัฒนาเข้าสู่ช่วงสุดท้ายแล้ว ซึ่งจะมีการแก้ไข Bug ของเกมที่เหลืออยู่และเพิ่มระบบ Crossplay ข้ามเครื่องเข้ามา และหลังจากการอัปเดตนี้ เซิฟเวอร์ของเกมบนระบบ PS4, Xbox One และ PC จะใช้เซิฟเวอร์เดียวกันเพื่อเล่นด้วยกันได้
