I was so thrilled when I got to see Chuck Close’s paintings in person a few years ago at @metmuseum. He was one of my biggest inspirations when I started exploring a career in art in 2013, and I was totally fascinated by his pixelated, fragmented portraits, the many penciled grids on his canvas, and the layers of colours painted on each small pixel. He created many paintings from his wheelchair with a brush strapped to his partially mobile hand after he was paralyzed from a blood clot in the 80s.
RIP Chuck Close. Thank you for the inspiration. I will still get back to work. x
