Happy Friday! Is anyone missing the school holidays as much as I am? Yup, for some reason, I find school days much more tiring and of course, so much less fun.
Let's see how this bunch is doing.
The big girl has been waking up promptly, and in fact earlier than needed, because she has captain duties to fulfill this week. So far, she has been settling down well and it's good that she is reunited with her classmates for another year in Primary 4.
The little sister is now in Primary 1 and thanks to her elder sister and the fact that she has set foot in this school umpteen times last year (to help me out with volunteering), she is getting swiftly accustomed to things. Being the outgoing one, she has been making new friends and telling me all about her exciting happenings in school too.
As for the littlest, it's his second day of being in preschool and it's still a struggle whenever Mama needs to leave. He screams, he bawls, he resists and he holds onto me with all his might. It's a new experience for me because the sisters were chill when it came to starting school and neither of them cried, even though they might have been nervous when I had to leave. This one, I'm not sure how long he needs before we get over this phase - one which makes me feel heartless for leaving him and walking off. Yup, being apart for 3 hours every morning feels long and I am not sure if I will actually like the feeling of not having any kid around me for that couple of hours. I'm weird, huh?
Someone told me that boys might be surprisingly more clingy than girls and it seems true in my case, and this little koala will likely remain so for a while longer. I'm not complaining because I think when the time comes and he becomes a teenager who doesn't need me around and wants time alone or with friends, I think I will jolly well miss this superglue phase and wish I had cherished it more.
In any case, it's a new beginning for us and I am thankful to see that at least two out of three kids are doing well and feeling happy to go to school.
Hope the first few days of school have been great for your kids too!

Meet Goofy! The 11th unwanted/abandoned animal that has been adopted into our home. I really don’t understand the world sometimes. Why is it so tough? Why do people abandon their pets? Why was there a fire in our home? Why do so many people that don’t give a shit about anyone but themselves do so well, while people that care too much so often seem to be struggling? I really don’t know. All I know is it’s always better to do the right thing, not because you expect a reward, but because your beliefs and ethics are not conditional. As unfair as the world may seem at times, don’t become one of those people filled with cruelty, cussing and punching their way to the top. They will always carry the hate within them. Just focus on whatever you can do. Like adopting an animal instead of shopping for it like it’s a chair. Or volunteering at your local shelter. Things become easier when you focus on giving, and for some odd reason, it makes you happier than all the shit money can buy. I’ve met so many cruel people this year alone, and coming home to Goody + 10 others is the highlight of my entire year. #onlylove

Do you believe that things happened for a reason?
Yesterday, I was prompted by the card machine (top up) that my Ezlink is expiring next week and I need to make a replacement at one of e ticketing counter which happened to be only available at selected stations. I didn't give much thought about it and just left home this morning thinking I still have sub card to use. I headed out for a volunteering event at one of the RAYA Charity Drive organised by PGA. We spent about 3 hours helping to pack the goodies for tomorrow's distribution. Followed by a visit to a dear friends place before the iftar dinner together. Being able to contribute to the community and at the same time being able to spent some quality time with dear friends are already a lot to ask for in a day. It's just lovely to be able to achieve so many precious moments. And before leaving for home, my friends happened to drop me at a station where it coincidentally has a ticketing counter that offers expired card replacement. Omg, I thought to myself... How awesome can this be? It's such a productive day to be able to do things for the future (volunteer work with #spreadlovecreatehope team), for the present (iftar dinner with friends) and past (expired card). It's all planned according to how the day will end. It just require more patience and faith to believe that everything will be just fine.
I'm just so glad. And so blessed ❤️🙏✨
Thank you for a wonderful day.

I am writing to you to update you on the steps we are taking to combat coronavirus.
In just a few short weeks, everyday life in this country has changed dramatically. We all feel the profound impact of coronavirus not just on ourselves, but on our loved ones and our communities.
I understand completely the difficulties this disruption has caused to your lives, businesses and jobs. But the action we have taken is absolutely necessary, for one very simple reason.
If too many people become seriously unwell at one time, the NHS will be unable to cope. This will cost lives. We must slow the spread of the disease, and reduce the number of people needing hospital treatment in order to save as many lives as possible.
That is why we are giving one simple instruction - you must stay at home.
You should not meet friends or relatives who do not live in your home. You may only leave your home for very limited purposes, such as buying food and medicine, exercising once a day and seeking medical attention. You can travel to and from work but should work from home if you can.
When you do have to leave your home, you should ensure, wherever possible, that you are two metres apart from anyone outside of your household.
These rules must be observed. So, if people break the rules, the police will issue fines and disperse gatherings.
I know many of you will be deeply worried about the financial impact on you and your family. The government will do whatever it takes to help you make ends meet and put food on the table.
The enclosed leaflet sets out more detail about the support available and the rules you need to follow. You can also find the latest advice at gov.uk/coronavirus
From the start, we have sought to put in the right measures at the right time. We will not hesitate to go further if that is what the scientific and medical advice tells us we must do.
It's important for me to level with you - we know things will get worse before they get better. But we are making the right preparations, and the more we all follow the rules, the fewer lives will be lost and the sooner life can return to normal.
I want to thank everyone who is working flat out to beat the virus, in particular the staff in our fantastic NHS and care sector across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It has been truly inspirational to see our doctors, nurses and other carers rise magnificently to the needs of the hour.
Thousands of retired doctors and nurses are returning to the NHS - and hundreds of thousands of citizens are volunteering to help the most vulnerable. It is with that great British spirit that we will beat coronavirus and we will beat it together.
That is why, at this moment of national emergency, I urge you, please, to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.
Boris Johnson
