During the 2017 University Games, the USA men’s soccer team made great use of the time they were not playing matches to participate in some community service by helping kids from the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families improve their soccer skills. The team members and kids had a great time together! #USATeam #SUTaipei2017 #SportsDiplomacy

The USA Team Men’s Basketball coach Matthew Painter wrote a thank-you letter to the residents of Taipei. Read his letter:
Purdue Men's Basketball. #USATeam #SUTaipei2017 #SportsDiplomacy”

We’re heading down the home stretch of the 2017 Universiade. Last night the U.S. took gold in Women’s Water Polo, silver in Baseball and Men’s Basketball (I was at the game and we gave it our all), as well as a bronze medal in women’s doubles badminton. Congratulations to Taiwan for taking gold in three of four badminton sports. I am especially happy for my good friend Tai Tzu-ying, the #1 ranked women’s player in the world, who took the gold in the women’s singles. I watched the match on television and was struck by her athleticism and touch. (Nonetheless, I’m still waiting for my rematch!) Taiwan’s wins last night place them third place in the gold medal race with 26. Looking forward to a great ceremony tonight to close out the Games and wish good luck to Naples, Italy, the next host in 2019...km
Have you seen Director Moy and Tai Tzu-ying playing badminton together in this video we posted before the University Games?
