Dear NTU students and colleagues,
.
Winter vacation will soon begin on January 18, 2021. As the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging globally, the University would like your cooperation and attention to the following during the vacation to jointly safeguard each other’s health.
.
In daily life:
😷Maintain appropriate social distancing (1.5 meters indoors and 1 meter outdoors). Please wear a mask where social distancing is not possible. Wear a mask at all times when you enter the following eight types of venues: healthcare facilities, public transportation, places of consumption, places of learning, sports and exhibition, leisure and entertainment, houses of worship, and business offices.
😷Avoid crowded and poorly-ventilated public places or tourist attractions to prevent the spread of respiratory infectious diseases. Please also wash your hands frequently, practice hand hygiene, and observe cough etiquette.
😷Minimize chances of gatherings as they are high-risk activities that can spread the virus. When gatherings are necessary, avoid close contact with non-specific or strangers. Pay attention to hand sanitation and food safety.
😷Do not attend large events or take public transportation if you have symptoms suspected of COVID-19 such as fever, respiratory complications, diarrhea, and loss of smell and taste. Seek medical attention immediately and the doctor will determine if a test should be administered.
.
Traveling abroad:
✈All members of the NTU community should avoid non-essential or non-urgent trips abroad. Faculty and staff should seek the Executive Vice President’s special administrative approval when such trips are necessary, urgent and there is no alternative to going abroad in person.
✈After returning to Taiwan, please observe regulations governing the 14-day home quarantine and 7-day self-health management, and file a notification at the NTU Website for Disease Control. At the same time, notify the COVID-19 contact person of your affiliated administrative (or departmental) offices.
✈People who are asymptomatic during the 7-day self-health management may resume daily activities but should still avoid going to public places. If going out is necessary, wear a medical mask throughout the entire trip.
✈If you have symptoms suspected of COVID-19 such as fever, respiratory complications, diarrhea, and loss of smell and taste during the 14-day home quarantine and 7-day self-health management, please wear a mask immediately, call 1922 or contact a local department of health, and follow the instruction to seek medical attention at a medical testing facility in the designated community. Do not go there by public transportation.
.
Wish you all great health and a happy winter vacation!
.
Sincerely yours,

32nd Learning Session Recap: Your Store of Wealth At Home (English version below)

Master Dai Hu held his 32nd Meal Session on 26th July 2017 with the theme "Your Store of Wealth At Home", teaching participants how not to neglect the wealth that has always been by our sides.
The love or lust for money should not be a matter of debate here. As the saying goes, "Money is not all, but one cannot do without money as well!" Although this phrase sounds materialistic, there is some truth in it nonetheless.
At every Learning Session, Master Dai Hu would teach all participants how to say greetings to a Buddhist practitioner like him with a respectful bow and clasped palms. He patiently explained this is not a sign of weakness or inferiority, but an indication that one is willingly to let go of his self attachment and arrogance. Our physical conduct of etiquette forms the critical foundation for your future success.
Master took a quick look at the participants and said: "I cannot see on you, any merit cultivated from being generous."
We need to always self-reflect. Have we ever help another person joyfully? Do we avoid those volunteers holding donation tins on flag day intently?
The wisdom you learnt from Master Dai Hu at his sessions will benefit you for the entire life.
Highlights from the session:
1. Master Dai Hu asked the participants, "How can you be wealthy?"
Miss Lin answered, "By observing proper etiquette. "
Master replied, "This will improve your likability with others, but will not make you wealthy. "
2. Why can this person achieve success in such a short span of time?
It must be due to his/her keen eye for detail.
3. How does your body shape affect your personal wealth?
4. Doing virtuous deeds require wisdom.
5. Master Dai Hu asked, "Why is the Store of Wealth so important?"
Miss Chew answered, "So that we can accumulate more wealth for the next generation."
Master said it is more practical to ensure that us, the current generation, have sufficient financial resources to start with.
6. By chance, a group of people was making a ruckus, and Master Dai Hu reminded everybody that we are more civic-minded, and should not behave like them, disturbing others while thinking they are still right.
7. A wealthy man in Taiwan hacked away his store of wealth in his mansion. As a result, he broke his finger, lost his factory, and eventually...
8. Why do some people fail repeatedly in business?
9. Do more recitations of the "Rebirth to Pureland" mantra. Think about your life, do you want more benefactors or enemies?
10. What kind of room is best for growing your wealth?
11. Abortion is a grave sin, and will slice away your merits as swift as a knife cuts an apple into half.
12. Master pointed out to a participant that her eating mannerisms is not a sign of fortune. The gentleman sitting beside her immediately corrected his, but not the lady herself. Master rebuked her before she corrected herself.
Master then reminded her that she professed to be very sincere in learning from Master Dai Hu, and was thus given the chance to learn from Master. To teach her is to hope that she would have a better life. If she did not wish to receive his teachings and mend her ways, this may be the last time Master gives her a chance, depending on if she treasured it.
13. Do not easily believe those inexperienced Feng Shui practitioners. You may have some friends or relatives who think they know a little or two about Feng Shui and start dishing out advice. These kind of distractions often confuse a person receiving the right advice from an accomplished master.
14. Master Dai Hu decides to help a person based on one's merits, and never his or her wealth.
15. If an object is of no benefit to you, placing it in your home will only bring a downfall to your career.
16. Master Dai Hu did a Feng Shui analysis on the spot, based on photos from the participants, advising them effective ways to improve their wealth!
17. Offerings of rice and incense has immeasurable merits.
18. This kind of house signifies the descendants having lesser achievements and unable to keep up with those of the ancestors.
.
Do not think that being wealthy now means no need to learn from virtuous masters. Money and merits get depleted faster than you realise.
A wise person will ponder every day how to increase his own merits and wisdom, and not wait till both these qualities are almost depleted before desperately calling Master's emergency hotline for help.
Reading Master's FB articles can heal your emotional wounds. You are bound to find one that resonates deeply with you.
Your past does not matter. The power lies in the now. Your new beginning can start now.

***QUICK SUMMARY***
Why Asia Wedding Network was started?
So I started the company because a lot of my friends were getting engaged and planning their weddings in Asia, and having a lot of trouble finding vendors for their wedding. I noticed that they were looking at sites like theknot or wedding wire which were pretty much useless to them since they were not getting married in the US. I had one particular friend who wanted to get married in Bali and also in Taiwan but since she was a successful career woman, she didn’t have time to scroll through google or spend a lot of time on Instagram to find her vendors or get her planning done. In the end, she only got married in Taiwan because she simply didn’t have enough time to plan a wedding in Bali. So I thought, why isn’t there a one-stop shop website in Asia like there is in the US? That’s why I started the Asia Wedding Network, which started off being an online directory but transformed into much more. We literally created everything you need to plan your wedding - all in one place. You can find vendors, book packages, shop for wedding products, find pretty inspiration, learn wedding etiquette, and much more. In case you want to check out the company, I’ve provided a link in the description below.
5 Business Lessons
1. Solve a problem
2. Analyze competitors
3. Do things differently
4. Constantly transform & update
5. Think about how to offer more
