Harro everyone. I’ve always been on some sort of social networking platform (from Asian Avenue to Facebook) but i’ve never committed fully to a blog. I’m extremely new to this whole blogging scene so bare with me as I slowly piece things together and experiment with ideas. Telling you a little about myself is probably a good way to start. So here we go! My name is Nicole. I was born and raised in Calgary and have since returned to the mother land, now residing in Hong Kong. I grew up in a semi-traditional household as both my parents immigrated to Canada quite young but still kept their roots intact. My dad is a crazy good cook and my parents were previous restaurant owners. I remember involuntarily sacrificing my summer holidays grindin’ at the restaurant (aka child labour). Apparently, my nimble fingers were the essential tools to wonton wrapping, spring roll rolling and dumpling folding. I don’t follow many food blogs mainly because theres too much reading involved. So basically That Food Cray !!! is exactly how I would want to see a food blog run. Wouldn’t you rather SEE pictures/videos of food than read about food? I don’t want to bore with a novel about how my hamburger tasted. I’m hoping That Food Cray !!! will stand out from the rest visually, creatively, and above all else not create a pretentious foodie platform. SHOULD YOU QUIT YOUR JOB NOW?

“You have to help me quit my job!”

Even though the video was off, I could tell from Bria’s voice that she was in tears. This strong woman couldn’t keep herself together anymore.

“You’re experiencing strong emotions now. That’s very natural,” I said, wanting to help her feel safe and accepted.

After all, Bria and I had only met once in an event. Knowing that I was a coach, she reached out the next day to see if I could help.

If there’s anything I’ve learned from my years of coaching, it’s that when the person is emotional, you need to give them the space to feel it.

So as Bria sobbed, I stayed silent, feeling my belly rise and fall with each breath. After a short while, I could sense that her wave of emotion had passed.

“Shall we take one long easy breath together?” I asked.

I heard her breathing with me. I paused, allowing Bria the time to settle, then I asked her to tell me what’s so difficult to her about her job.

After listening to her sharing, I said: “I can definitely help you, Bria.” I heard a sigh of relief on the other end. “But only if you promise me you won’t quit your job yet.”

3 months after that conversation, Bria waltzed in my office one evening holding a bottle of red wine: “Let’s celebrate!”

She had a giddy grin on her face, the very special grin with a dimple that I’d come to love after many hours supporting her. “Oh! Is it okay for us to drink a glass of wine in our coaching session?” She asked.

I laughed: “Of course. What are we celebrating?”

Bria said, her face brightened even more: “I just realized today that I have the perfect job!”

The most fascinating thing about this story is that the “perfect job” she referred to was the exact same job she had practically begged me to help her quit.

Bria’s circumstances hadn’t changed. But her experiences of the circumstances had changed 180 degrees. Why? Because she did.

Bria’s story teaches me once again, that life is truly created from the inside out.

I visited again this month! To the royal road iekei ramen that gives off charm! We visited "Yoshimuraya, the head of the iekei” in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. This shop was founded by Mr. Minoru Yoshimura, who created the first "Iekei Ramen" that spreads all over the country. The other day, I interviewed the owners of the direct stores "Hajimeya" and "Sugitaya" for the first time, and the video that talked about the situation at that time was very popular. At the Yoshimuraya, the head temple, there was a long line at this time as well, and I felt its popularity once again when a wide range of customers lined up in search of the cup. I'm looking forward to the taste of the real family, which has a "taste that can only be found here" whenever I visit, so please have a look!
