The fancy recording of the interview with @thepeakmalaysia is now out too! Love the production value from the team there 🤩
(As well as the longer online article in my bio, if you’re old school, and like to read, not watch)
-
As I said when the magazine article came out, I really enjoyed this chat 😃 It’s a funny one because this is probably the last time you’ll hear me talking about @joompa in the guise it’s been in for the past 4 years.
-
💻 This week our big, new dev team commenced work on the evolution of Joompa, taking us much deeper into the world of fitness technology and creating an incredibly intelligent solution 🧠 that will make personalised fitness accessible to WAY more people.
-
In this video you’ll hear about how Joompa came about, but honestly we’re yet to solve the problem I set out to back then 🤔
-
I thought that the issue with people getting good quality personalised fitness was just that they couldn’t find it 🤷🏻♂️ We were the first serious local players in a now well populated space, but it turns out that was a small part of the equation 👌🏽 Actually they needed convincing it was worth it; which involves introducing them slowly into what a profound effect it can have on their lives 🏃♀️ and it being provided at a price point that they can afford 💰
-
More on this in the months to come, but we’re about to change the game, one crazy idea at a time.

I spoke to a doc friend of mine, and he echoes the sentiments that there is an insufficient number of posts available for housemanship in our country.
If you recall many years back , there was a glut of medical graduates - I remember during my Uni days, when the quota for students applying for courses in medicine was capped to a certain number. That was back in the late 90s early 2000s.
But with the introduction of private institutions which offer medical courses , we saw an increase of medical graduates.
“Over the years, private medical schools have become convenient scapegoats for what is claimed to be an excessive number of medical graduates in this country, when it is self-evident that this is only part of the story,” ~ Prof. Dr Pravdeep Nair.
Obstetrician and Gynaecologist senior consultant Prof Dr Zaleha Abdullah Mahdy pointed out that the country’s doctor to population ratio was alarmingly imbalanced.
“The problem now is that there aren’t enough posts for doctors to fill in the public health service sector; it has not expanded in line with the population’s needs.”
Prof Pradeep suggested ramping up our healthcare expenditure to ease the gridlock in available posts in the medium and long term, as Malaysia currently spends 4.4% of its gross domestic product on healthcare, compared to the recommended 7% by WHO.
“Another solution is to explore the possibility of smart partnerships with private medical centres and medical schools by allowing housemanship training in the private sector.
“This is in place in Australia under the Commonwealth Medical Internships Initiative,” he said.
He said with a moratorium currently placed on the number of medical programmes in the country as well as limits on intakes, the next steps to consider are a phased reduction in the number of overseas schools Malaysia recognises; a scheduled discontinuance of the provisional registration examination for unrecognised graduates; the introduction of a common competencies checklist for all Malaysian medical undergraduates studying locally or abroad; and the introduction of a common exit examination for all Malaysians who are medical graduates intending to work in Malaysia.
While calling for the current contract doctors to be absorbed into permanent positions, Medical Practitioners Coalition Association of Malaysia president Dr Raj Kumar Maharajah said the number of medical colleges in the country must be controlled.
“Cut down student intakes in private medical colleges by at least 70% and by 50% in public institutions until the situation is normalised,” he said.
.
.
.
Do you think it’s fair that these contract doctors decided to do a boikot when the country needs them most?
1. Hell yeah!
2. No. It’s an opportunist move.
Would love to hear your views.

This is me demonstrating what it feels like to run a fitness business during MCO.
-
RTS Malaysia was really getting warmed up. Three successful intakes down, and our delivery of the workshop was evolving nicely into the true foundational education experience we intended: to show coaches the level of information out there that they could be using to better their craft. And now, we’re completely cut off from providing the all-important practical element to the course 😔
-
Weekly PT sessions on @joompa were at an all-time high 📈 and now we’re operating at 10% capacity 📉
-
I’m not so deluded to think that I know enough about the virus to have an opinion on what the best solution truly is. I do know that the current state of affairs is destroying decades worth of hard work for a lot of people and it’s very difficult to watch 🥺 Like it or not, getting “the jab” seems to be the solution to stop that happening (or at least slow the bleeding).
-
I’m grateful that Joompa’s model was built to be capable of weathering this storm, and I hope that anyone in the industry who shares my passion for improving people’s fitness manages to stay afloat as well, somehow 🙏🏽
-
Plenty of people have given up the personal training profession recently to move into other business - and no judgement (or surprise) given the climate we find ourselves in 🌪 If you were a PT in the first place because it seemed easy, maybe e-commerce or something is a better option for you anyway. But if you’re a coach or a trainer who is genuinely dedicated to bettering the lives of those who place their faith, time and energy in you… I hope you find a way to stick around.
-
I’m pretty sure what awaits us on the other side will be worth it 💪🏽

Work-from-home seems like the way to go until mankind finds a way around the pandemic. As some of you would know, Roland and I still hold our own full-time jobs. Both of us are working at home most of the time. Just like you, we like our meals to be easy, quick and yet still delicious on a working day. As we try to limit ourselves from going out too often, we usually stock our pantry with long-lasting vegetables, such as potatoes, carrots and onions. We love this Chinese style chicken stew recipe because it's so easy to cook and we have all of the ingredients ready in our pantry. Best of all, it is really yummy. You can have them as is, serve them with some steamed rice or even pasta - really versatile!
See the ingredient list below for your easy reference.
Hope you can recreate this yummy recipe in the comfort of your home. Happy cooking!

This clip is from: Joseph Prince— How To Pray And See Results (4 Nov 2018) @josephprince
When you have a prayer request, are you hesitant to go to the Lord for help, or do you boldly declare that Jesus has already paid for your request on the cross? If you're unsure of whether God wants to answer your prayers, we hope this video clip reminds you that whatever you declare over your life has already been done in heaven (see Matt. 16:19 AMP).
Friend, God doesn't need to be persuaded to help you, He already made that decision 2,000 years ago when He sent His Son to die in your place. On the cross, Jesus took away every sickness, curse and pain. The best part? He also made you righteous and an heir to every blessing and promise of God. So, don't underestimate the power of your prayers that declare Jesus' finished work. Through these declarations, by faith, you are proclaiming that God is the solution to the problem you are facing, and through the finished work of Christ, what you've declared shall indeed come to pass! ??
