結構使われている「Track」を用いた英表現
=================================
名詞では「人や車などが通った跡」や「競技場のトラック」、動詞としては「追跡する」等を意味する「Track」ですが、日常英会話の中で使いこなしている日本人は少ないように感じます。しかしネイティブの会話の中では結構よく使われる単語なので、今回はその中でも日常会話やビジネスシーンで耳にすることが多い「Track」を使った3つの表現をご紹介したいと思います。

1) Keep track of something
→「記録をつける / 経過を追う」
--------------------------------------------------
この表現には「絶えず注意をし、物事を把握しておく」と言う意味があります。お金や時間など数字に関する場合は管理や記録をすることを意味し、ニュースや物事の進み具合など情報に関する場合は注意深くフォローすることを表します。例えば、友達に毎月の出費を管理しているかと聞く場合は、「Do you keep track of your monthly expenses?」、同僚に株式市場の動向を追っているかを尋ねる場合は、「Do you keep track of the stock market?」という具合に使われます。
<例文>
You should keep track of how much you spend every week.
(毎週、いくらお金を使っているか記録した方がいいよ。)
I use an app to keep track of my working hours.
(労働時間を記録するアプリを使用しています。)
I keep track of my steps and calorie intake using my iPhone.
(iPhoneで歩数とカロリー摂取量を記録しています。)

2) Lose track of
→「見失う / 現状が分からなくなる / 忘れる」

この表現は何が起きているのか分からなくなったり、誰かを見失ったり、または時間を忘れてしまうことを意味します。特に、何かに夢中になり過ぎて時間が経つのを忘れてしまう状況で使われる傾向があります。例えば、仕事に没頭してしまい気づいたら深夜過ぎだった時に、「I lost track of time.」のように表現します。
<例文>
It's 10 pm already? I completely lost track of time.
(もう10時なの?時間が経つのを忘れてたよ。)
When you're having fun, you lose track of time.
(楽しんでいる時は、時間が経つのを忘れてしまいます。)
I've published many books. I've lost track of how many I've written so far.
(私はたくさんの書籍を出版しているので、これまで何冊執筆したのか忘れてしまいました。)

3) On track
→「軌道に乗って / 順調に進んで」

Trackは鉄道の「線路」を意味することから、列車が線路を通って脱線せずに目的地に進むよう、物事が計画通りに順調に進んでいることをon trackと表現します。例えば、仕事のプロジェクトが計画通りに進んでいる時は、「Our project is on track.(プロジェクトは順調に進んでいます。)」、スタートしたダイエットが目標体重に向けて順調に進んでいる時は、「I'm on track to lose 5kg.(5キロ減量するのに順調に進んでいます。)」と言う具合に使うことができます。
✔「再び軌道に乗る」や「話を元に戻す」ことをget back on trackと表現する。

How to Design an Effective Workout Plan: Ultimate Guide for Beginners | Joanna Soh
Having an effective workout programme is extremely important towards achieving your fitness goals. You can’t just have a goal and expect to achieve it, if you don’t have a clear and detailed plan. Without it, you’re probably wasting your time and effort.
There isn’t a “one plan fits all” solution. That’s because we are all different. Creating an exercise programme varies based on your age, goal, fitness level, lifestyle and more. Even with tons of workout videos out there, you still need to have the knowledge of knowing why you’re doing this workout, rather than just blindly following it..
So what I’ll be sharing with you today are the foundations to start a simple yet effective workout programme. It might sound daunting, but once you know the basics and build from there, it isn’t difficult, in fact it’s a lot of fun. I’m going to try to keep it really simple and break it down into 5 steps.
