I’ve been aching to tell you about this place, possibly the most memorable island gastronomical ‘getaway’ we’ve experienced in Thailand thus far. From the island’s history and boutique resort’s generation of founders, the lush forested surroundings and pristine beach, to finally, the living legend who calls this place his ‘second home’. David Thomson has chosen this tiny, secluded and idyllic beachside culdesac of Krabi, as a tropical destination to plant the wisdom of his culinary brilliance “The Arundina”, and after this trip, we more than understand why. But before all that (#comingsoon ), let’s start with a casual beachside meal at Tubkaak Krabi which unlike many lazy beachside indulgences that aren't usually made up of the fresh, organic ingredients or composed with an acute amount of care and partially the reason we love it, but imagine if you could have both!
The Beachfront Menu serves up a selection of beach-bumming favourties, such as hot and I mean hot, fluffy shrimp cakes made-up of the catch from the local’s fisherman’s net or a salad comprising of the island’s organic fauna, fruit and root; Paco fern and pomelo, spicy palm shoot salad, dressed with boiled egg and roasted cashew nut and a finished with a sprinkling of fried shallots and chili *drool*. Then there’s the chicken, oh my Gawd. Crisped to perfection, bite into a limb to experience the juicy and hot chicken flesh and the kick of local black peppers. Dip that baby into their homemade sweet chili sauce and munch away at the bone while basking on the extra large sized beach bed.
The one taste-sensation deeply etched into my mind and palate is Mamuang Bao Smoothie! What makes up this bombshell of a smoothie is of course the Mamuang Bao, a variety of mango native to Krabi, smaller than the standard mango, is oblong in shape and has a “starchy” texture and lovely sour finish. Combine that with Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort’s gorgeous white beach and a spectacular 13-island archipelago in the Andaman Sea, is all the vitamin Sea that you’ll need. @thetubkaakkrabi @davidwjthompson @ The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort

Wow.. today the boy in the picture turned 43 years old! 18th April 1978 doesnt seem not too far away, until I actually flipped the calendar to see how far back that was! 👉👈😜
This year has been amazing journey for many. Both challenging and overwhelming at the same time. I annouced on social media about my Indian restaurant @balasbananaleaf , we did an event to launch my Chinese restaurant @malamala_my , gave a huge hint on social media about my Wow.. today, the boy in the picture turns 43 years old! 18th April 1978 doesn’t seem too far away, until I actually flipped the calendar to see how far back that was! 👉👈😜
This year has been amazing journey for many, both challenging and overwhelming at the same time. Alhamdulilah, I’ve managed to do so many things the past year.

This is my 9th year after winning #MasterChef and my journey has never been short of spice. The shop ′′ Brother Kai, Gate Sam ′′ is famous overnight because Khun Ouchit took a live review in front of the shop. Nadech, a regular customer of this shop drove by to say hello. 🥰 I can tell you that it's right. Now, if anyone passes around here, you'll see people coming to buy randomly from Brother Win Motorcycle to Nadech! 🤩 Even if it's a normal cart shop, it tastes extraordinary. It's not strange that Brother Bee used to sell out within 1 hours. 💥 Let's know the owner of grilled chicken. The good mood for who he is and what a great one to tie it. The heart of Nadech is fine!

We came to the back of Srinakarin Wirot University to meet with ′′ P ' Bee ′′ or ′′ Siriwan Bupsiri ′′ ✨ the owner of the shop ′′ Brother Kai, Phasi ′′ according to the students of the university of the university. I see customers stop by to buy non-stop like this. Brother Bee said that in the beginning, there are customers who are students, parents, students and brother Win Motorcycles around here only. Thailand's sergeant came to eat at cuddle pm. Recently, especially. A young actor who loves aunts, uncles all over Thailand like ′′ Nadech Kukimiya ′′ 😍 who loves it so much that he comes to eat every week. Brother Bee secretly whispers that Nadech always drives. Come to buy on Friday and Saturday. It's probably because of the spicy sauce to the northeastern flavor. 😋

The great recipe for customer's heart is 3 types of sauce, 3 styles that P ' Bee is new every day. Both ′′ young chili paste ′′ that we are familiar with. ′′ Spicy sauce, sour, sweet sauce ′′ cut with wet tamarind sauce and ′′ Pickled fish ′′ or ′′ Chaew Bong ′′ 💥 that brother Bee says is ranked 1 The most addictive sauce is gone before anyone. Always friends.

The best-selling menu is ′′ grilled chicken ′′ (10 baht) and ′′ grilled chicken liver ′′ (10 baht) that you need to hurry up to order. Otherwise, you won't be able to eat. Some days, it's sold out. There are many people who come to buy it. Haha. It's wooden. Anyone who has passed by to buy, you can choose from chicken to sauce! 😋

After trying, no wonder people stop by to eat at cuddle am continuously 😊 because chicken is super soft, juicy, specialized sauce from ′′ rice ′′ hot rice ′′ with chili paste. It's very satisfied. 3 sauce is delicious. It can't be found anywhere. If you ask about the most impressive sauce, it must be ′′ pickled fish ′′ for sure 💥 from what I used to don't like pickled fish but enough. Dipping with grilled chicken. I can't stop eating. I want to come back to eat again. 🤤

In the past lockdown period, Brother Bee said, ′′ Stop selling for 3 months because everyone is home. School and college closed. No customers but now they are back to sell. ′′ Brother Bee is waiting for all customers at the same place. Same time. Free. Affordable price. No change. Sell for only 10 Baht per stick. 😍

For those of you who enjoy their Som Tum (Thai Papaya Salad) but haven’t ventured beyond the more “classic” and safe varieties like the Som Tum Thai or Som Tum Buu (crab) or even the funkier, Som Tum Plaraa (fermented fish), then this beyond beginner’s guide is for you!
In this line-up, thanks to the guidance of Chef Korn of Somtum Der, we introduce variations of Som Tum hailing from specific regions of Isaan, Northeastern Thailand and even adaptations from Central Thailand, to those more obscure combinations. After a stint in any country, one should further explore the local food or at least be less intimidated when scouring over a menu of strangely titled and pictured papaya salads…and besides, it doesn’t hurt to look that extra badass when ordering among Thai friends.
