Part 2
STUDENT LIFE (Part 2)
Hi everyone! This is the eighth post (the last post was on STUDENT LIFE Part 1) in the series to help you find the best American college/university FOR YOU by considering more than “college rankings.”
Last time we posted about student life, but student life isn’t all about clubs and groups. When you choose a college or university make sure that you consider the “little things” too, because over the course of a few years, the little things add up.
Food might be something you want to consider. You should check the campus website for dining hall menus and what types of food different dining halls offer, as well as consider what type of meal plan might work best for you. You may also want to look into whether or not there are good restaurants in the area nearby for nights you are not eating in the school dining hall.
You should also consider housing. Most colleges and universities require that freshmen stay in the campus dorms.
After that, the requirements vary. Many schools have pictures and layouts of dorms on their websites which can help you get an idea of what their facilities are and what living in them might be like. For many graduate students, you may need to consider renting an apartment. Ask your friends which area off campus is convenient and popular for graduate students to live.
Finally, check out the academic calendars of the schools that you are considering, so that you can get an idea of when your breaks and holidays will be and how many days you will get off. Make sure that your personal travel is possible to fit in within your break times!
