「我就是在台灣找到了《靈山》的中文版，這本書的作者是第一個榮獲諾貝爾獎的華人[高行健]，但中國從來沒有真正承認過這個得主。做為一個經濟官，我們大概知道優秀的合作夥伴要具備什麼特質。的確，美台之間也許有些貿易障礙，但就整個台灣經濟體系的價值觀而言，以及像美國一樣作為一個開放的民主社會，能有這樣的合作夥伴對我的工作來說是非常珍貴的。台灣政府充分響應民意，並奠基了創新創業和知識自由的基礎，就是這樣的知識自由有助於建立知識型社會及知識型經濟，台灣、美國就是很好的例子。在台灣這樣允許言論自由、反覆試驗不怕失敗的環境下，研發才得以存在並精進，相反的，沒有這些自由就沒有好的研發。派駐台灣可說是我經濟官職涯中的亮點，而且，比起其他我去過的地方，台灣人民真的非常友善，也非常尊重他人。」安恬（Dannielle Andrews）美國在台協會經濟組組長。

＊安恬女士來台之前，曾擔任美國國務院法律事務局區域全球功能事務辦公室代理副助卿。她於2017年6月以優異成績畢業於美國國防大學，取得國家戰爭學院國家安全戰略碩士學位，以及資訊網路空間學院網路安全證書。安恬女士於2002年加入國務院，並曾任職於美國駐瀋陽總領事館、美國駐巴西巴西利亞大使館，以及美國駐迦納阿克拉大使館。她也曾先後於美國國務院擔任中國暨蒙古事務辦公室經濟組組長，核能風險降低中心資深觀察官，以及經濟暨商業事務局助理。在加入國務院之前，安恬女士曾於加州總體經濟研究公司擔任研究員及客戶關係主管；她也在巴西、中國和迦納積極參與志工活動。安恬女士先後取得維吉尼亞州威廉斯堡威廉與瑪麗學院學士學位，以及德州大學奧斯汀分校碩士學位。她通曉葡萄牙語、中文、俄語及西班牙語。#WhyIChoseTaiwan #愛台灣我的選擇 #RealFriendsRealProgress #美台關係 #真朋友真進展

“It’s here in Taiwan that I got a version of 靈山, which was written by a PRC author who the Chinese have never actually acknowledged as the first Chinese person to win a Nobel prize for literature...As an econ officer, we all kinda know who the great partners are. Yes, there are some barriers to trade between the U.S. and Taiwan, but in terms of the overall value of the economic system and to Taiwan having a society like ours, it’s invaluable to my work. Taiwan is responsive to its citizenry, which lays the foundation for entrepreneurship and intellectual freedom. Intellectual freedom is what helps build knowledge-based societies and knowledge-based economies, like Taiwan’s, like the United States’. Research and Development, exist and are perfected in places like this, not in places where you aren’t allowed to express freely what is tested, failed, tested again. I already know that this is the highlight of my economic officer career. Also, the kindness and respect for your fellow human being that I found here more than anywhere else that I’ve been when I’ve traveled around.” Dannielle Andrews, AIT’s Economic Section Chief.

Prior to her arrival in Taiwan, Ms. Andrews served as Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Regional, Global, and Functional Affairs in the Department of State’s Bureau of Legislative Affairs. She graduated with honors in June 2017 with a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College and a certification in CyberSecurity from the College of Information and Cyber Space at the National Defense University.

It was definitely not easy to come to Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris this morning because of the traffic control due to the movement of Gilet Jaune. But I have made up my mind, nothing could stop me. I made several transfers, detours, and a long walk and finally made it before the Easter pop-up closes its door tomorrow. What is there that has been alluring me? Needless to say, it’s the magnificent Easter creations presented by one of my most admired chefs Maxime Frédéric.

While everyone else is making eggs, chickens, rabbits, and fish, he let his inspirations fly high. While the shape of the balloon does remind you the shape of eggs, its aspiration to move and see further away has brought the meaning of Easter to the next level. This delicate piece has come along with its equally beautiful company, the “tablette nouage” a chocolate tablette in the form of clouds. Wouldn’t it be just amazing to free your imagination and let it bring you anywhere you want during this gorgeous season promising hopes and new life? 🎈

復活節週六的早上，我明明知道因為黃背心運動會有交通管制與移動困難的風險，但還是在查了各種資訊後決定出門。在換了數次車、繞了幾次路，最後還在豔陽下走了長長一段路之後，我終於到達喬治五世巴黎四季酒店。到底是什麼如此吸引我、無論如何都想親眼看看呢？那就是甜點主廚Maxime Frédéric今年復活節的創作。

復活節，所有的主廚都在做巧克力蛋、小雞、兔子、魚，但是Maxime的想像力帶我們到了更高更遠的地方。他的巧克力熱氣球大概是今年巴黎所有復活節創作中最引人注目、也最有創意的作品。一如以往，精緻不在話下，但將復活節萬物復甦、大地回春的寓意帶到了另一個層次。與之相伴的是他的雲型巧克力塊以及鬆軟綿密的南特蛋糕（Nantais）。在這個充滿希望與新生的季節，為什麼不讓想像力帶著你飛翔、相信自己可以到達任何想去地方呢？

His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa shares a teaching on compassion. Compassion is one of the fundamental teachings of Buddhism, about which Karmapa often speaks.
聖陛下第十七世嘉華噶瑪巴大寶法王分享了一個關於慈悲心的教導。慈悲心是佛教的基本教義之一，噶瑪巴經常提到這些教義。

“Compassion is our inherent nature and a quality of our minds. It simultaneously aims towards the true happiness that is inherent in all of us and it wishes to end confusion for everyone, thus enabling a correct understanding about the world and its beings. Through a very natural outflow of compassion, we give substantial meaning to life.
“慈悲心是我們內在的本質和我們心識的品質。它引導我們得到與生俱來的真正幸福，同時它也希望結束每個人的困惑，從而能夠正確理解世界及其眾生。通過一種非常自然的慈悲心的流露，我們為生命賦予了真實的意義。

Since this quality of compassion is inherent, we don’t have to look anywhere else to find it. Wherever there is a consciousness, there is a seed of compassion. It is the same for wisdom. Wherever there is a consciousness, there is a seed of wisdom, too. Compassion is inseparable from wisdom.
由於慈悲心的本質是固有的，我們不需要去其他地方尋找。只要有意識，便會有慈悲心的種子。智慧也是一樣。只要有意識，便會有智慧的種子。慈悲心與智慧是分不開的。

The free flowing expression and quality of compassion is so important, for without it we will not be able to live our lives fully. Without it we will only be able to experience a fragile, conditioned peace. It is due to compassion resulting in true understanding that we can find unconditioned peace and happiness, and ultimately liberation.
自然流動地表達慈悲心和其品質是非常重要的，因為沒有它，我們將無法完全充實地過活。沒有它，我們只能經歷一個脆弱的，有條件的平和。這是由於慈悲心導致真正的理解到我們可以找到無條件的平和與幸福，並最終達至證悟。

To approach this, the Buddha taught us to cultivate more compassion in ourselves, towards each other and the world by recognizing that the aspiration and motivation to want happiness (and not want unhappiness) is deeply rooted in all of us. If we use this understanding to connect with each other, we could create the basis to develop and cultivate what is most essential in our lives: compassion.
為了解決這個問題，佛陀教導我們長養更多對自己，對彼此和世界的慈悲心，做法是通過認識到發願和渴望得到幸福的動機（而不要不快樂）深深紮根於所有人之中。如果我們利用這種理解來相互聯繫，便可以發展和培養生活中最重要的要素：慈悲心

By sowing seeds of compassionate understanding as each moment passes, we are able to overcome various kinds of confusion without much struggle. Obstacles are easily avoided and we advance safely along the path of virtue, making great use of this precious and fragile human existence. For example, in the midst of obstacles, by focusing on our innermost wishes, this will help us to overcome arising mental and physical challenges.
每一刻通過慈悲地理解的種子，我們能夠不大費勁地克服各種困惑。我們能夠容易地避免障礙和沿著善行的道路安全地前進，而且充分利用這個珍貴而脆弱的人生。例如，在障礙中，通過專注於我們最深切的祈願，這將有助於我們克服身心方面的挑戰。

We should remind ourselves that this cultivation of compassion can be achieved without much hard work. We can cultivate compassion while sitting, walking, or even sleeping. By applying ourselves in this way, we can utilise every spare moment to cultivate compassion, even within this limited physical world.
我們應該提醒自己，可以在日常輕鬆的情況下長養慈悲心。我們可以在坐著，走路，甚至睡覺時長養慈悲心。通過這種方式，即使在這個有限的物理世界中，我們也可以利用每一個空餘時間長養慈悲心。

Don't Get Got! is a party game in which each player receives six secret missions. The first player to complete three of these missions wins.

You don't sit at a table to complete missions, though. This game is designed to run in the background of whatever else you have going on, which means you can play it anywhere — at home, on holiday, in the office, or yes, at a party.

Mission examples include getting a player to compliment your hair, hiding this card in a jar and getting another player to open it for you;, and making up a word and getting a player to ask what it means.
