Singapore’s leading media entertainment and content company MM2 Entertainment Singapore is delighted to announce the release dates for a slate of Singapore films for 2020 and 2021.
“We are extremely excited to share this slate of Singapore-made movies, including the first local film to release in 2020. It has not been a good year for Singapore moviegoers, with the pandemic causing havoc to the releases to Hollywood and Asian movies. Every year there is a steady stream of new Singapore movies released in cinemas. This year, however, due to the pandemic and the circuit breaker, there has not been any local releases to date. We are therefore proud to be releasing this slate of Singapore films, for Singaporeans,” says Mr Ng Say Yong, Chief Content Officer of mm2 Asia.
“These films are uplifting stories that are certain to entertain moviegoers, and very relevant to our times. It is especially important in this time when we need to be socially distant, that we are still able to connect with the community through the shared cinematic experience. Laughing together, crying together - the group effect of watching a film together in a theatre: that is what cannot be replicated at home or on a mobile screen,” he continues.
Number 1 will be the first Singapore film to be released in 2020. The film portrays a man who gets retrenched and must take on an unorthodox job as a means of survival. The movie will resonate with moviegoers, in this current climate where the local jobless rate is the highest in more than a decade. Local funnyman Mark Lee delivers a career-defining performance in the challenging role of the film’s lead; and has been nominated for top acting honours at this year’s Golden Horse Awards in November.
Additionally, mm2 has announced an exciting slate of local films scheduled for release up to June 2021. The list of films includes comedies, dramas, horrors and thrillers - offering a wide variety of cinematic options guaranteed to please even the most discerning movie lover. Included in the list are Jack Neo’s The Diam Diam Era 1 & 2 slated for the year-end school holidays and Chinese New Year respectively, as well as Mark Lee’s directorial debut Running Ghost.

Trying a new makeup look today!! Swipe to reveal the goodies I used:
1. Clalen Iris Suzy grey contact lens: not my usual daily lens but I really like this grey, it’s like a bluish grey and looks pretty natural on Asian eyes.
2. VDL LumiLayer Primer: I think one of the key I like for doing my face makeup is to use less foundation and keep it natural looking, therefore having a good base is important. Lately I’ve been using this new primer and I really like it’s texture, it’s a watery pearly base that is great for Winter’s dry skin and also gives my skin this subtle luminous glow.
3. VDL LumiLayer Illuminator: this is also like a base, I use it for colour toning, because it has a light pink glow, so I use it on highlighted areas like my cheek, nose, and forehead.
4. Clé De Peau Radiant Fluid Foundation 00: my favourite foundation because it’s light, and stays on smoothly without getting all cakey after a few hours.
5. VDL LumiLayer Correcting Powder: So after the foundation, comes the final touch to set everything in place. This powder is a 4-in-1 powder that corrects pigmentation on your skin and also has a very subtle shimmery glow, or sometimes I use the colours separately.
6. Anastasia Brow Wiz Medium Brown: I like using the brow wiz more, because I think with the thinner pencil it’s easier to control your strokes and accuracy. The medium brown goes well with my hair colour now or even darker hair.
7. Anastasia Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette: I found this palette’s colours are more pigmented than usual eyeshadows. But for this look I used the “dusty rose” for the entire eyelid, “rustic” on the corners of my eyes, and I added a little bit of water on a thin brush to use”noir” as the eyeliner.
8. Canmake Powder Cheek Blush PW41: this blush is also like a dusty rose colour so goes really well with the eyeshadow.
9. Bite Lip Crayon Glace: a dusty mauve crayon with a matte finish. A lot of matte lippies I tried before are usually pretty dry, but this one actually feels quite moist and is also parabens- free. I actually added my lip balm on top for a glossier finish. @ Toronto, Ontario

How North Asia looks like
After entering Russia in a gloomy day, I quickly fell asleep on the train. As I woke up the next day, wow, what a scene that I had never seen before! The train was going along a river. There was grassland near the railway, and forest farther way. There were mountains, but there were not prominent; there were rivers, but there were not rapid; there were houses, but they were flat and built with wood, showing no contrast to the forest in the background. Every component looked familiar, but the combination is not something I had seen before. Except the animals feeding on the grass and slow-moving water, everything seemed like resting.
This is North Asia, where temperate forest and temperate prairie meet.
Suddenly I realized, other parts of Asia sound more familiar to us -- when hearing Southeast Asia, South Asia, West Asia or Central Asia, we can easily come up with some scenes of that region; while when it comes to North Asia, we can scarcely imagine how it looks like. My first impression of North Asia was surprising: it is developed so lightly that everything looks so pure and pleasant. Finally, I've got a scene that I can connect with when hearing the term North Asia.
A Mongolian nation within Russia
After riding trains for almost 24 hours, I arrived at a large city in Russian Far East: Ulan-Ude. Its probably the Russian city closest to Mongolia - not only geographically, but also culturally.
As you walk on the street, you can see many Asian faces. They are different from Chinese/Japanese/Korean - usually thinner eyes and more rounded cheeks. Compared to European Russians, I felt they are closer to I. Especially when the young ladies put on makeup, they look not much different from the CJKs. Officially, they are called Buryat Mongols.
Before Russia acquired North Asia in the 17th century, this region had been Mongolian territory. Buryat was one of the Mongolian tribes, their language is one dialect of Mongolian, and their religion is Tibetan Buddhism. During the Soviet time, they were established as a autonomous republic, and their uniqueness was preserved. The Soviet Communist Party even funded the construction of temples and datsans (religious schools). This place is like a Mongolian nation within Russia.
However, as I walked on the street, I could barely see any Mongolian influence other than the Asian faces. The only other visible thing is the buildings that incorporate Mongolian components. As for the Buryat, they all spoke Russian, as if they had been like the Slavs, as part of the great nation Russia from the very beginning.
