I didn’t meet my father until I was 6 years old. My parents had a comfortable, middle-class life in Shanghai, or as close as you could get under communism. But they always wanted to live overseas, and just before I was born, my dad came to Sydney to set things up. I don’t know why, but in the end, my mother and I didn’t join him until I was 6.

這是一種聲訊傳輸導線的型態，採用三個腳位(即三芯導線)，利用相位抵消

譯稱:波段、頻率帶
在等化器(EQ)中，它並不是"樂團"的意思，而是指一段頻率範圍。例如Midd
le Band，就是中頻波段的意思。請同時參考"Equalizer"。

Band-Pass Filter
譯稱:帶通濾波器
這是濾波器的一種，它只留下Cutoff Frequency(截頻點)左右某音頻範圍的
組成泛音，而將其他的音頻去掉。請參考"Filter(濾波器)"、"Cutoff Freq
uency(截頻點)"。

Bandwidth
譯稱:頻寬
在等化器(EQ)中，它指的是一個波段(Band)的寬度。當您對等化器中某個中
央頻率點(Central Frequency)進行放大或壓低的調整時，所影響的並非只
有該頻率點上的聲音，而是該波段頻寬中的所有聲音。例如，假設等化器上
每一個波段的頻寬為1個八度音，則當您對等化器上加強100 Hz的聲音時，
實際上所加強的會是75 Hz~150 Hz之間的聲音。
請參考"Equalizer"(等化器)、"Band"(波段)。

Bank
譯稱:群組
在音源機或合成器中，有時會將音色分成幾個組，例如XV-5080中的預設音
色分成A~H組，每一組中各自有128種音色---一個組就叫做一個Bank。
在綜合效果器中，也會將效果分成幾個Bank，但通常是4、5個效果為一組。
為什麼要將音色或效果再分成數個群組？原因很單純，就是讓音色選擇的操
作更方便一些；另外一個原因，則是MIDI訊號的限制，此部份請參考"Bank
Select"。

Bank Select
譯稱:群組選擇
在MIDI的訊號中是以一個位元組(Byte)為單位，而一個位元組能表達0~127
的數字。 MIDI是以Program Change這種一個位元組的訊息來指定音色的，
也就是說，這個訊息只能指定128種音色，因為一個位元組能表達的數字只
能0~127。請同時參考"Program Change"。
然而目前的音源機、合成器所內建的音色，絕對都已遠超過128種，光靠Pro
gram Change這種訊息，不足以選用到所有的音色，因此，還要再加入Bank
Select，也就是所謂的群組選擇訊息。
例如，XV-5080中的預設音色分成A~H個bank，一個Bank中各有128種音色，
因此，當您要從編曲機或電腦指定其某一組中的某一音色時，就要先給該組
所對應的Bank Select訊息，然後再給Program Change訊息。如想要指定A-0
54號的音色，就要先送A組的群組選擇碼，然後再送Program Change 54號的
訊號給XV-5080。
Bank Select訊息是由兩個位元組所結合而成，可以表達0~16383的數字；再
加上Program Change，則總共可以表達2百多萬個數字，換句話說，未來的
音源器、合成器就算內建再多的音色，也都可以透過Bank Select與Program
Change訊息加以指定。

Beat Loop
譯稱:節奏迴圈、循環節奏、節奏LOOP
一段節奏樂句的取樣音色，在播放時會不斷地反覆。
您可能在合成器中會發現某些音色，當您彈下琴鍵時會播放出一段節奏樂句
，並且不斷反覆直到您放開琴鍵為止，這就是Beat Loop。另外，您也可能
會利用取樣機對一段節奏音樂做取樣，並在播放時讓它不斷反覆，這也是Be
at Loop。

Beat Loop Sync
譯稱:節奏迴圈同步、循環節奏同步、節奏LOOP同步
這是某些Roland合成器的特殊功能，它可以讓所取樣的節奏樂句(Beat Loop
)速度跟著MIDI編曲機同步。
您可能常會以Beat Loop為基本節奏，再搭配MIDI編製的音樂。然而由於Bea
t Loop通常是一段錄(取樣)進來的節奏聲波，速度上已經被固定，如果您想
要改變音樂的速度，Beat Loop就無法像MIDI音樂一樣可以很方便地馬上改
變速度。一般而言，要改變Beat Loop的速度，您還得同時修飾音高(取樣聲
的速度被改變時，音高也會跟著變動)，直到您修到正確的速度與音高前，
可能會耗費相當多的時間與嘗試。
Beat Loop Sync功能讓您只要在MIDI編曲機上設定好所要的速度，不用進行
煩瑣的計算與嘗試，就能夠自動將Beat Loop的速度與MIDI編曲機同步，並
且也幫您算好要修正的音高。如此一來，您就可以更有效率而輕鬆地完成您
的音樂作品。

Bit
譯稱:位元
在數位的領域中，所有的資料都是被數字化，並且是以'0'與'1'的組合來代
表各個數目，也就是數學上所謂的二進位制。
一個'0'或'1'，就是一個位元。例如當我們說一個2-位元的數字，就是指它
是一個兩位數的二進制數字，有'00'、'01'、'10'、'11'這4種組合，分別
代表0、1、2、3的數字。
一個3位元的數字，能代表0~7這8個數字；而一個4位元的數字，能代表0~15
這16個數字。以此類推下去，一個16位元的數字，能代表0~65535的數字。
簡單地說，位元數越大，所能代表的數字範圍就越廣。

Bouncing Tracks
譯稱:併軌、合併音軌
將幾個音軌合併成為一個單音音軌或一個立體聲音軌。通常這個動作會將原
有的錄音軌給洗掉，但若是利用虛擬軌(Virtual Track)，您就可以將原來
的音軌保留下來，日後再做其他不同的混音嘗試。

BPF
譯稱:帶通濾波器
即Band-pass Filter的縮寫。請參考"Band-Pass Filter"。

BPM
譯稱:速度、節拍速度
BPM是"Beats Per Minute(每分鐘幾拍)"的縮寫，用來量度一首音樂的速度
。例如若一首音樂的BPM是120，則表示它的速度是一分鐘120拍。

BPM Calculation and Sync
譯稱:BPM計算與同步
這種功能是用來計算一首歌曲的速度(BPM)，並加以顯示。它的原理是抓取
歌曲中大鼓出現時的較強音量，以分析出每分鐘有幾拍。您也可以透過BPM
調整或Tap Tempo按鍵，來計算出BPM，基本上只要一算出BPM之後，就可以
進行效果同步以及MIDI時序碼的傳送，並且也可以很方便地讓各種不同來源
的音樂加以速度同步，像是來自唱盤、CD、以及任何可以跟MIDI同步訊息相
容的MIDI器材的音樂。

Bus
譯稱:匯流排、訊號匯流路徑
可讓一個或多個訊號傳輸的共用路徑。常見於混音座、錄音座等產品。 例
如VS系列錄音座中各音軌的聲音，可同時送至EFX Bus(效果器匯流路徑)，
再一同匯至內建效果器處理。

Byte
譯稱:位元組
在數位訊號中，一個位元(bit)是最基本的資料元素，也就是0或1的資料。
位元越多，所能表示的資料就可以越大。
為了方便資料表示或處理，數位器材與電腦就會以幾個位元集合成一個單位
來處理，以MIDI器材為例，就以8個位元為一個單位，也就是8個位元集合成
一個位元組。這8個位元當中，一個位元是用來表示狀態，所以真正用來表
示數字的是7個位元。7個位元的0與1的變化，可以有128種(0000000、00000
01、0000010、….、1111111，共128種)，可以用來表達0~127(或1~128)的
數字。這也是為什麼在MIDI的領域中，為什麼很多參數都是以127為最大值
。
在目前的電腦系統中，由於硬體性能的提升，所以就不一定再只以8個位元
為一個位元組，而有可能是16個、24個、或32個位元為一個位元組。一個位
元組含的位元數越多，所能表現的資料值就越大。
