Penang is moving towards a bicycle state by building many dedicated bicycle lanes around the island phase by phase. By 2020, we will have a total length of 39.3KM dedicated bicycle lanes from Straits Quay to Penang International Airport.
So far we've got the stretch from Weld Quay - Queensbay Mall (12KM) and from QueensBay Mall - Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge (3.6KM) built.
There are more dedicated bicycle lanes on its ways to completion such as this 3-tier spiral bicycle bridge connecting from Queensbay Mall to beside Intel factory (across Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Highway), which is expected to be ready by January 2018. It has a top observation deck for users to enjoy the seaview and cyclists can use it to go across the busy highway safely to reach Bayan Baru. Soon, cyclists will be able to cycle on the dedicated bicycle lane from Batu Maung to George Town!
