Lamigo Fan Letter
I just wanted to write and let the Lamigo #10 know I truly appreciate and am very grateful for the wonderful 2017 they provided. Thank you I have many unforgettable memories from playing catch in pingtung with fans on field to taking pictures with mrs everywhere from pingtung to Japan to Taichung and of course Taoyuan. Believe me I fully enjoyed the cheers and huge outpouring of emotions and I did my best at all times to reciprocate it for our team. Truly #10 has a very special place in my heart from the jiao lady in stands to the tennis guy near my zhongli nightmarket the experiences are endless and to have been able to share such a record breaking season means a lot to me. My family and I enjoyed every bit and aspect of representing the amazing lamigo fans thank you for the kind words of support and encouragement the entire time and being so patient and understanding during this difficult and very trying time of deciding what the future holds for the 2018 season. The 2017 season was awesome and I am so grateful to Jesus Christ for every single blessing that was given to me this year because without him with me, none of that is possible. I enjoyed everything from being woa sho Jiangx fea to telling everyone I'm a gangster and don't touch shoulder and don't even get me started on my night market fun was all because of the great relationships I experienced of the 2017 Golden Champion Lamigo team from #2 all the way to #99 but special recognition for #10.
Thank you for the memories amazing season and I wish all my now former teammates and lamigo staff best of luck in not only 2018 but beyond as well . I'm so sorry I could only get us a tie in the staff games ( guess I'm not ready to manage)
Thanks again for the understanding and knowing that #10 made this decision one of the hardest I've ever made and really appreciate the support and look forward to seeing everyone in Taiwan again very soon.
Ps # 1 was so quiet that's why I forgot him haha just kidding he had the locker next to me and sat in front of me on the bus we are basically brothers both of Mexican heritage.
Thanks again
And have a blessed day!

J.R. Smith was a one-man breakaway, his eyes widening as he sprang toward the basket, the ball rising over his head for a rim-rattling windmill dunk.
Clank!
It bounced off the iron and back toward halfcourt, the crowd moaning and coach George Karl nearly tipping over backward in his chair.
That one play both epitomized the Nuggets' shoddy, senseless play Saturday night and ignited the short-handed Sacramento Kings to a surprising 118-115 win that dealt the Nuggets a blow to their playoff plans.
"There's no reason for this team to come in here and beat us on our own floor, as good as we were playing on this floor," Allen Iverson said after the Nuggets fell to 31-8 at home. "They were playing without their two best players. No reason for it. It's unacceptable."
Kevin Martin scored 36 points despite missing Sacramento's shootaround with the stomach flu and the Kings capitalized on Kenyon Martin's one-game suspension by getting 29 points from Francisco Garcia and 23 from Mikki Moore.
"We didn't have a stopper mentality, a guy that could help us with those guys," lamented Karl, who was so incensed at K-Mart's suspension that he had a heated conversation with NBA executive vice president Stu Jackson earlier in the week.
The Kings, out of playoff contention and missing Ron Artest (thumb) and Brad Miller (leg), won their fourth straight game and snapped Denver's nine-game home winning streak. They took advantage of sloppy play and silly mistakes by the Nuggets, who got 47 points from Carmelo Anthony, two shy of his career high.
Kevin Martin gave them more than they could have hoped for, sinking all 13 of his free throws and converting a trio of 3-pointers.
"Kevin was not healthy," Kings coach Reggie Theus said. "He played through it. His stomach was hurting. He didn't even make it to shooting practice. I wasn't sure I was even going to play him. Kevin said he wanted to play, and you saw the results."
Instead of moving into a seventh-place tie with Dallas, Denver fell into a tie with idle Golden State for the eighth and final playoff spot in the wild Western Conference. The Nuggets visit the Warriors on Thursday night in a game that's suddenly a must-win.
"The sun will come up tomorrow and we're still tied," Karl said. "We kind of gave back the little bit that we've earned. But giving up 118 points to that team was disappointing."
Artest was a late scratch with a strained left thumb, seemingly negating any advantage Sacramento might have had facing a Nuggets team without Kenyon Martin, who had to sit out after picking up his sixth flagrant foul of the season.
Despite playing poorly, the Nuggets had a chance on their final possession to send the game into overtime.
After a timeout with 4.3 seconds left, J.R. Smith inbounded the ball to Marcus Camby, who gave it right back, but Smith's 3-pointer at the buzzer bounced off the front of the iron and high off the backboard.
"He's the best guy on our team making the tough 3, and with four seconds to go, you're probably going to get a tough 3," Karl said. "And I've seen him make the shot he took."
Linas Kleiza started in place of Kenyon Martin and scored 28 points, 21 in the first 18 minutes, helping Denver take a 41-32 lead. The Nuggets looked as if they were going to cruise to an easy win even without K-Mart, by far their best player over the last 1 1/2 months.
It was the Kings, however, who went to the locker room with a 59-56 lead behind 17 first-half points from their own K-Mart.
"In the second quarter we lost our discipline, our mental direction," Karl said. "We thought the game was going to be easy. J.R. missed a dunk and we kind of got sloppy with the basketball."
Iverson cringed as the Nuggets began to fritter away their early 12-point lead.
"They just played better than us, and there's no reason for that. As serious as this game was, and the magnitude of this game, there's no reason for it," he said. "I told 'Melo during the first half when they came back and took the lead and the momentum was going their way, I told him I didn't feel good about this game."
And now he doesn't feel so good about the Nuggets' tenuous hold on a playoff spot, either.
"I'm definitely concerned if we're going to play like this," Iverson said. "We've got to play better teams than them down the stretch. I'm confident, but, yeah, I'm concerned."

The Los Angeles Lakers' team effort trumped Allen Iverson's big night.
Iverson scored a season-high 51 points but the Lakers had three players, led by Kobe Bryant's 25, score 20-plus points to give the Lakers a 111-107 win over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night.
Vladimir Radmanovic scored 21 points and Derek Fisher added 20 for the Lakers. Carmelo Anthony had 26 points and eight rebounds and Marcus Camby had 20 rebounds for the Nuggets.
"We absorbed a lot of points from Iverson," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "He got our whole team in foul trouble."
Iverson scored 49 points through the first three quarters but was held to a just a layup in the fourth. The Lakers clamped down on the 6-foot guard, forcing the ball out of his hands. The strategy worked. Iverson took only four shots in the last 12 minutes.
"When somebody gets 49 points in the first three quarters obviously its going to draw attention to the other team," said Iverson, whose career high of 60 came against Orlando on Feb. 12, 2005. "When somebody's got 49 points they want to make sure I get the ball out of my hands, and that's what they did. My responsibly is to give it up and my teammates had to make plays."
They couldn't. Anthony was 4-for-10 from the field in the fourth and the rest of the team made 3 of 9.
While Iverson got cold, Bryant heated up. Bryant picked up his fourth foul 38 seconds into the third quarter and sat the rest of the period, but he played the entire fourth, scoring 12 points. With the game tied at 102, he scored six straight points for the Lakers to give them a 108-104 lead with 35.3 seconds left.
Kenyon Martin hit one of two free throws with 23.2 seconds left, but Fisher hit two foul shots to make it 110-105 with 15.8 seconds left. Anthony missed a 3-pointer and Fisher hit a free throw to seal the win.
Bryant also helped stop Iverson in the fourth quarter.
"I'm not one of these players that believes if a guy gets hot there's nothing you can do about it," he said. "I just don't believe that."
For three quarters, the Lakers couldn't stop Iverson. He was 17-for-23 from the field and scored 16 of Denver's 30 points in the third period to help the Nuggets tie the game at 88.
"I just got in a rhythm. I kept attacking," Iverson said. "Everything that I saw open, I attacked, and I was able to knock down shots. When I got the ball, it seemed like every move that I made, it would throw the defender off."
But Iverson, who played the entire game, had trouble finding any room to shoot in the fourth.
\
"It was fun seeing him play that well, but shooting the ball and being hit and fouled so often, it wears on you," Nuggets coach George Karl said. "I think he got fatigued a little bit."
Before he tired, Iverson was electric. He single-handedly kept the Nuggets in the game and overcame the Lakers' 3-point shooting in the first 36 minutes. Los Angeles hit nine 3s entering the fourth, five from Radmanovic.
Iverson scored nine straight points late in the third to give Denver a 79-76 lead and push his point total to 49. The Lakers rallied to take an 80-79 lead, but Iverson drove the lane, and when two Lakers collapsed on him, he kicked the ball to Eduardo Najera, who hit a 3-pointer.
Game notes
Iverson's 33 first-half points tied his career high in a first half, which he set at Milwaukee on Dec. 18, 2004. His career-high for a half was 36 at Orlando on Nov. 10, 1999. ... Iverson's 51 points are the most by a Nuggets player since Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf had 51 at Utah on Dec. 7, 1995. ... The Nuggets' franchise record for points in a game is held by David Thompson, who had 73 against Detroit on April 9, 1978. ... Bryant left the game with a hurt left shoulder after he took a hard foul with 2.5 seconds left in the first period. "We went to the locker room, took a look at it and realized it wasn't something that was going to be too serious," Bryant said.

At the memorable 1986 NBA All-Star weekend in Dallas, 5-6 Spud Webb improbably won the slam dunk contest in front of his hometown crowd over favored Atlanta teammate Dominique Wilkins. The third annual old-timer legends game then preceded the first three-point "long distance shootout" competition.
And fittingly to cap off a fine All-Star Saturday before the mid-season classic contest on Sunday, Celtic long-distance marksman Larry Bird won the inaugural three-point shootout in spectacular fashion.
After being chosen for the event, Bird practiced shooting from the five three-point spots for weeks leading up to the contest, egged on by sharpshooting teammates Danny Ainge and Scott Wedman.
Neither of them were invited to be part of the eight-man field, although both could make an argument they were better long-range shooters than some who were in the competition.
Snubbed, both Ainge and Wedman needled Larry that they should have been included instead of him. Yet Bird would lead the NBA in three-pointers made (82) and attempted (194) that championship season, making 42.3 percent of his triple tries.
Dale Ellis of Dallas, Eric "Sleepy' Floyd of Golden State, Craig Hodges of Milwaukee, LA Clipper and former Laker guard Norm Nixon, Chicago's Kyle Macy (a fellow Hoosier), 6-5 Knick Trent Tucker and Bullet Leon Wood joined Bird. Five of the contestants were relatively small guards, while the 6-7 Ellis was a swingman. Bird was clearly the tallest of the group.
Bird immediately tried to establish himself as the frontrunner when he entered the locker room before the shootout.
"Which one of you guys is going to finish second?" he asked. Only Nixon of the seven other competitors had been an All-Star, so much of the field may have been a bit in awe of the setting and the three-time MVP. And Nixon, an excellent mid-range shooter, was actually a puzzling choice for inclusion.
In his entire career, Norm made just 100 treys as he shot 29.4 percent beyond the arc. The 1985-86 season with the Clippers was his best from long distance, but he still shot just 34.7 percent and made a mere 42 trifectas.
Bird correctly figured Hodges, who would later win the shootout from 1990-92, was his stiffest competition. Wood complained that the red, white and blue ABA "money balls" (a nod to the defunct league's role in popularizing the shot) worth two points were slick and hard to grip.
Actually the American Basketball League, a short-lived pro loop in 1962-63 featuring a Cleveland team owned by George Steinbrenner, pioneered the three-point shot. The ABA picked up the gimmick shot when that league opened play in 1967, and added the popular red, white and blue ball under commissioner George Mikan.
Always looking for an edge, Bird played into Wood's paranoia by grabbing an ABA ball and handling it before agreeing with Wood that it was indeed hard to handle and shoot.
As Larry expected, Hodges came out of the gate firing and scored a whopping 25 out of a possible 30 points. His incredible first round showing is still a single-round record for the event 28 years later. The mark of 25 was tied by contest winner Jason Kapono in 2007 and 2008, but has never been exceeded.
Tucker scored 19 points, Ellis 17 and Bird 16 as he squeaked into the second round. Only the top four scores made it to the semifinals, eliminating Floyd, Macy and Wood (who all tied with 13 apiece) and the jump-shooting Nixon (nine).
Bird started to heat up in the semis by scoring 18 points. "Look at how effortlessly he gets the shots up," noted WTBS commentator Rick Barry. A superstar bomber in both the NBA and ABA, Rick had retired in 1980 and probably wished he could have competed in the event.
At 6-9, Bird had an advantage over the shorter field. He barely got off the ground as he launched his perfectly-arched trifectas and thus burned less energy. In addition, his quick release, fast recovery time and quick hands helped him get off all 25 shots in a minute every time, usually with seconds to spare.
