匠客福已經兩個月沒有服務各位了，很是想念。陸續接到許多關心的電話，詢問我們是否開始服務，在過去這一段時間「安全」與「生存」成為我們唯二的考量以及課題。

She Bangs! Sukhumvit soi 11 may no longer be the pulsating nightlife hub in Bangkok but there are still resilient fast food joints and foodie institutions that continue to keep their doors ajar for takeaway and delivery. God forbid they can still remain open after this 3rd wave of COVID-19 restrictions. But one new comer who shines their neon light through the grimly lit street is Bang Bang Burger. The name suggests and the burger tastes, the burgers are bangin'!

Burgers could arguably be the most debatable and iconic fast food menu item to exist, among pizzas and tacos, what constitutes "the best", comes down to personal taste and preference.

One thing that stands out, apart from Bang Bang's funky branding, is the sauce. The "Bang Bang" sauce and the "Babakew" sauce, with rich,
sticky and more-ish flavours is what sets this burger brand apart. It was only after I realised "In Sauce We Trust' happened to be their slogan.

Secondly is the thick and chunky beef pattie, so big, the pattie juts out over the rim of the brioche burger buns. Although not everything is original in taste, isn't that what we love about burgers? To get that drug-like foodie hit when biting down on one. Bang Bang burger should achieve thus, and for the quality, prices are fair and your burger will arrive in-tact, as the packaging for delivery is well taken care of. Last but not least, from one "chip" fan fantic to another, the homecut fries are just the cherry on the cake.

I ordered the Cheesy Fries (RM16.95) from NY Burger Co., they also offer Cheesy Beef Bacon Fries under this promotion. U.S. potatoes are more desirable in appearance, taste and texture. It contains high 'solids' and low sugar content too.

DomDom Hamburger limited menu 'a whole flatfish burger'. The burger has an impact looking, doesn't it? DomDom hamburger is the first hamburger chain to open in Japan but it has been deprived of the share by other hamburger chains. But it sometimes release interesting burgers. Do you remember soft shell crab burger or okonomiyaki hamburger which I posted before? It's DomDom burger. The flatfish burger set (burger, French fries and drink) is 960 yen(8.7 USD).

For this episode, we went down to JOMO to complete an UNDEAFATED 2KG Burger Challenge! JOMO is located at Holland Village and is restaurant + bar concept featuring Western-style cuisine and bar bites. The décor is sleek and minimalistic, appealing to the modern consumer. On top of their standard burger menu, they have an UNDEFEATED burger challenge with a 15-minute time limit. Completing it makes your meal free. Specifically for my challenge, the staff promised to have a company-wide volunteer outing should I complete it in under 10 minutes.

The challenge comes with a 5-patty beef burger. The patties are dry-aged Angus beef from Sidecar. Together with the patties, the burger is loaded with a cheese sauce, onion rings, sliced cheese, bacon and an egg, nestled between 2 toasted buns. Besides the burger, the challenge has chicken-salted fries, purple coleslaw and a Bourbon Vanilla milkshake, with a total weight of around 2KG.

You could taste the dry-aging noticeably in the patties, which had a deep meaty flavour but were a bit on the dry side. Eaten as a package with the cheese, egg and onion rings, the burger really came together as a flavour smorgasbord. The fries had an interesting addition, chicken salt, and you could taste the strong chicken flavour if you licked the salt off the fries. However, eaten en masse and with chilli sauce or ketchup, the mild chicken flavour was drowned out by the stronger ones. The coleslaw was decent, not too sweet and still crunchy but nothing exceptional. The milkshake was very strong alcohol-wise, but pleasant enough to wash down the burger with.

I completed this UNDEFEATED 2KG Burger Challenge in right under 9 minutes, committing the staff at JOMO to partake in a volunteer activity together. The challenge is not overwhelmingly huge or technical, so 15 minutes is a reasonable timing for a large eater. JOMO serves a variety of affordable Western food including other kinds of burgers, steaks and their signature Fish & Chips. Do head down to JOMO to eat your way to a free meal!

In this episode, we headed down to The Goodburger at Coronation Plaza to beat an Undefeated 20 x 20 Impossible Burger Challenge! The Goodburger is a food truck that serves up Impossible patty burgers and vegetarian sides like nuggets and fries. Food trucks are already uncommon in Singapore, but one that serves plant-based meat and has an entirely vegetarian menu is particularly unique. They even offer vegan options for their burgers. Completing the challenge within 20 minutes makes the food free, but failure means you have to pay upwards of $100 for the meal. Goodburger has made this an official challenge for the public, so please come down to beat my timing and get a free meal to boot.

For this challenge, all 4 of the burgers that Goodburger offers were carefully skewered into a gigantic tower with each burger supercharged with 5 patties, making it a 20-patty burger. On top of that, onion rings, fries, churros and nuggets were piled around the tower, forming a formidable challenge.

The Impossible burgers were excellent, with the Classic being a standard cheeseburger, Black Tie having truffle aioli and rocket leaves, Happy Days with onion rings and BBQ sauce, and One Night in Bangkok being Thai-inspired with a lemongrass-galangal flavoured sauce. The burgers were indistinguishable from your standard beef burgers in sight, flavour and texture, with the centre of the patties still being pink. I am hard-pressed to think of a beef burger at the same price range that I would consider superior to Goodburger’s burgers. What really brought together the burgers were the special sauces used for each type which elevated the Impossible patties greatly and gave each burger a distinct character.

The sides were decent. I originally thought the nuggets contained meat, but to my surprise it was entirely vegetarian. The onion rings and fries were crisp and well-seasoned although they needed a dipping sauce that I was not offered. The churros had the signature cinnamon-sweet flavour to them that was not overly strong and were appropriately crispy on the outside while chewy in the middle.

I completed the challenge in the nick of time at just under 20 minutes. It was not as easy as I thought it would be and I was also enjoying the challenge a bit too much. The “meat” is entirely plant based and the authentic red beef colour comes from an identical chemical extracted from soy plants. According to Impossible Foods, this alternative uses 95% less land and 85% less water than the equivalent beef production, while still not comprising on taste. Head down to The Goodburger for excellent guilt-free burgers!
