Do you love to eat Málà (麻辣)? Drop by Chen's Mapo Tofu for the authentic rendition of Szechwan classics!
A sister concept by two-Michelin star Shisen Hanten by Chen Kentaro, the menu features the must-try Chen’s Signature Mapo Tofu, alongside oh-so-delicious rice and noodle specialities that are sure to hit just the right spot.
The soft blocks of silken tofu is cooked with minced meat in a thick spicy gravy flavoured with fermented soybeans and toasted peppercorns. It's quite delicious with the chewy Japanese Hokkaido rice.
Some other favourites include Buta Don, Nasu Don and Dan Dan Mien. Prices are really affordable!

Christmas fun at Jewel Changi Airport! We’ve not been able to play outdoors as much due to the rainy season, but we sort of made up for it by spending a day at Jewel’s Canopy Park. The Hedge Maze was surprisingly fun. We spent more time in it than expected as Luke enjoyed himself getting lost in the whimsical maze. We wanted to give the Snow Walk a miss as there was a queue, but Luke earnestly promised he would wait patiently because he wanted to touch the “snow”. He was disappointed to learn that he’s not tall enough for the slides and sky nets yet; I’m gonna make use of this to encourage him to eat well and sleep well! 😄
P.S. Thank you for your prayers and well-wishes. Luke has be ok since the scare on Friday.

This is one of the nicest instagrammable cafes i've seen recently as it has a Pink sugar area which will melt most girls and also a cute safari zone which is really good for picture taking. The food is also good and the souffle pancakes were super jiggly, the way it should be. Do check out this pretty little cafe at Changi city point!

For this video, we went down to Ho Ho Chimek where they assembled a beautiful Bossam platter for me to devour. Ho Ho Chimek is an authentic Korean restaurant located in East Village that specialises in Korean Fried Chicken while also offering a host of other delectable Korean cuisine. For this challenge, I was offered a secret menu Bossam (Korean Pork Belly) option, together with Kimchi Fried Rice and Jajangmyeon Noodles, that were assembled beautifully onto my giant plate.
Bossam is a unique Korean style of eating involving boiled pork belly served with a number of condiments that you then wrap up in a lettuce leaf into a neat little package. For myself, I was given kimchi, garlic, Bibimbap sauce and spring onions. On its own, the pork was reminiscent of char siew, but slightly fattier and sweeter. Eaten with all the condiments in a wrap, the flavours truly complemented one another with the kimchi and garlic tempering the cloying flavour of the pork together with the satisfying crunch of the lettuce.
The Kimchi Fried Rice was topped with fried eggs and had the distinct tangy flavour from the kimchi juice added. It was specked with kimchi and chicken luncheon meat, with the meat adding a needed savoury dimension with each bite. The Jajangmyeon noodles, a noodle dish topped with a thick black bean sauce and bits of pork, was not overpowering in the slightest as is common for poorly done Jajangmyeon, with the unique black bean flavour and juicy chunks of pork.
This was an enjoyable challenge with a good bit of variety, although the unctuous pork became rather overwhelming towards the end especially with my refusal to eat it as a wrap. I also tried their famous Korean Fried Chicken which was extremely crispy and flavourful on the outside, while juicy inside. The soy-garlic marinade really shone through. Additionally, the Bossam is apparently not publicised because it is very difficult for the owner’s mother to create, although it is one of their best offerings.
Do visit Ho Ho Chimek to get your Korean cravings satisfied! They will be offering a slightly smaller version of this platter for $68 from this Friday onwards, with the addition of Tofu Stew, and aptly named “OPPA Zermatt’s Platter”.

For this video, I headed down to Shabu Sai at Westgate to try eating as many plates of meat as possible and I managed to go through 62 plates in the end. Shabu Sai is a Japanese All You Can Eat Hot Pot style buffet. It has been a while since I did a buffet challenge so this is for you guys who have asked for it and enjoy seeing me demolish buffets.
Shabu Sai offers a selection of 4 different types of meat: chicken, pork, beef and wagyu beef (for an additional surcharge). They also provide a variety of vegetables and carbs like kai lan and udon noodles. All of these can be paired with a sauce you concoct yourself at their condiment section, which boasts fresh aromatics and a variety of sauces like soy sauce and ponzu vinegar.
For this challenge, I mostly ate the main 3 meats and recommend eating the chicken and pork the most, which were flavourful and tender, and paired well with our choice of hotpot broth flavours. The beef was almost as good, but came with too much fat and tendon attached to it.
