This tea bowl is "Yashichida-oribe Badarai chawan.
茶碗流行於中國宋代，而早期中國亦流行用茶碗品茶，茶碗叫天目茶碗，其後茶文化傳入日本。目前茶道中最常見的樂茶碗取名“樂”，是由於這種茶碗最先燒於聚樂第的窯，而黑色的會被稱為黑樂茶碗，這隻紅色的則稱為赤樂茶碗。
Tea bowl was originated from Song Dynasty in China and Chinese also used to serve tea by using tea bowl at that time. The tea bowl was called Tenmoku chawan. Afterwards, Japanese developed their own tea bowl at Jurakudai where the name Raku ware derived from. Raku bowls are the most often used tea ware in tea ceremony. Traditional Raku bowls are usually glazed mostly in black or red. This one I am repairing is red Raku chawan.

日本茶道中，茶碗扮演着重要角色，主人每每用上珍貴的茶碗款待客人，而茶碗往往是陶藝家的作品，是視為對客人的重視，客人用茶後更會欣賞茶碗。假如主人贈予客人茶碗更代表着友好及信頼的關係。
所以茶碗就有如藝術藏品般珍貴，正因如此，假若茶碗有任何破損，都會用上金繼作修補，是一份情誼，亦是互信的延續。
Chawan (tea bowl) plays an important and significant role in Japanese tea ceremony. Tea serving is not merely function of Chawan on the ceremony, but it is also for guests to admire. Chawan is also a metaphor of trust or reliance if it was given to the guest as a present. Considering the great values, people get used to repairing it by using Kintsugi if it was broken.
