台灣學生的寫作，除了文法語法上的錯誤外，最大的問題在於句子間跟句子間的關係過於薄弱。對美國人而言，Good writing （也是很多美國人所追求的） 的特徵，就是每句和每句的內容和邏輯是環環相扣。"想說什麼就說什麼，反正用In addition, furthermore 這種transition devices 承接就好" 的壞習慣讓很多學生寫作能力停滯。下面兩段寫作，是從UCLA名譽教授 Jared Diamond 的 Collapse (大崩壞) 一書和哈佛大學教授 Michael Sandel 所寫 Justice 一書截取，讓大家參考good writers如何connect ideas.
