青芒果 vs 黃芒果
夏天到處都見到芒果的蹤影,金黃色澤、軟綿多汁的口感有誰不愛?且慢!有時看到青皮芒果是未熟透嗎?青芒果及黃芒果是兩個品種,青芒果外青內黃,果肉口感較爽脆,味道帶微酸,較適合做沙律、冷盤;而黃芒果果肉軟綿,味道較甜膩,多直接吃或做甜品及飲品。
不少人以為芒果「濕熱」,食材本身不會「濕熱」,「濕熱」是指人體致病的原因及體質;芒果性熱且肥甘黏膩,助濕生痰,故容易令體質偏熱人士增加「濕、熱」症狀,然而芒果有益胃、止嘔、止暈、解渴、利尿的作用,配合體質適量進食就可以享受芒果的滋味了。
芒果 — 性熱,具益胃、止嘔、止暈、解渴、利尿作用。多種原因造成的頭暈皆可食用芒果紓緩症狀;適合慢性氣管炎咳嗽、氣喘患者食用;皮膚敏感及過敏體質患者須謹慎食用。糖尿病患者不宜進食。

Green mango vs Yellow mango
It is not difficult to find shops selling mangoes during summer, and it is an absolute delight to indulge in the sweet and juicy fruit. We often think a green mango is an unripe mango, but that is not always the case.
Green mangoes and yellow mangoes are actually two different varieties. Green mangoes have green skin but yellow flesh. Its flesh is crunchier and more sour in taste, and they are suitable to be used in salad and cold dishes. Yellow mangoes, on the other hand, are softer and sweeter, and they are often used in desserts or consumed directly.
Many people believe mangoes are ‘damp and hot’ in nature, but the term ‘damp heat’ is in fact used to describe the body constitution and the cause of illness. Since mangoes are warm in nature and are sweet and sticky, they can easily cause dampness to accumulate in the body and cause phlegm. Hence, individuals with a heat related body may experience damp heat symptoms.
Nonetheless, mangoes are good for the stomach, can relieve nausea and dizziness, quench thirst, and induce urination. We should be able to enjoy mangoes by consuming an appropriate amount of the fruit based on our body constitution.
Mango - Hot in nature. It can nourish stomach, relieve vomiting and dizziness, relieve thirst and promote diuresis. Dizziness caused by various reasons could be relieved by eating mango. It is suitable for those with chronic bronchitis cough or asthma. Those with skin allergy and sensitive body type should eat less. It is not suitable for diabetic patients.

Each episode of vertigo typically lasts less than one minute. Nausea is commonly associated. BPPV is one of the most common causes of vertigo.

菠蘿芒果不濕熱
說到夏季當造水果,菠蘿、芒果一定榜上有名。本想大快朵頤,身邊人卻説這些水果「濕熱」,不宜多吃!不過「濕熱」只是指人體致病的原因及體質,並不是指食材的屬性,食材主要分為寒涼、平性、温熱。菠蘿性平,芒果性熱,只要針對體質食用,也會是很好的水果呀!
至於兩者加劇皮膚敏感之説,其實是個別人士因為對菠蘿中的「菠蘿朊酶」敏感,所以吃菠蘿後會產生皮膚敏感症狀,例如發紅、痕癢。只要在食用前,削去果皮、內核,切開果肉並浸泡鹽水,味道更鮮甜外,也可以破壞「菠蘿朊酶」,減低引致敏感的可能性!而《開寶本草》提到「芒果,動風氣,天行病後及飽食後俱不可食之。」芒果肥甘黏膩,容易助濕生痰,影響脾胃功能,亦容易滯澀阻氣,進食後容易腹脹不適,所以易有肚脹、皮膚敏感及過敏體質患者,還有糖尿病患者也不宜食用,飽食後亦不宜再進食。
菠蘿 — 性平,味甘酸澀,具有消暑解渴、消食止瀉的作用,尤其進食太多肉類和肥甘厚味的食物,吃菠蘿可以消滯、助消化及利尿,惟糖尿病患者不宜進食。
芒果 — 性熱,味甘酸,具有益胃、止嘔、止暈、解渴、利尿的作用。多種原因造成的頭暈皆可食用芒果紓緩症狀。適合慢性氣管炎咳嗽、氣喘患者食用。皮膚敏感及過敏體質患者須謹慎食用。糖尿病患者不宜進食。
Pineapple and mango are not damp-heat food
When it comes to summer fruits, pineapple and mango easily come to mind. A lot of people say these fruits are ‘damp-heat in nature’ and that you should not have too much. In reality, "damp heat" only refers to the cause of sickness or body type. It does not refer to the properties of the ingredients. The nature of ingredients are mainly divided into cold, mild and hot. Pineapple is mild in nature while mango is hot in nature. They are great fruits if you eat them according to your body type.
As for the statement that both of them would worsen skin allergy, some people may be sensitive to “bromelain” in pineapple. Therefore, it leads to skin allergy issues such as redness or itchy skin. You can peel and core the pineapple and cut into pieces. Then soak it in salt water to make it sweeter and reduce allergic reaction by destroying bromelain. Mango is fatty, sweet and sticky, and can aid dampness and production of phlegm affecting the functions of your spleen and stomach. Consuming mangoes can also lead to qi stagnation leading to abdominal bloating. Therefore, those prone to have abdominal distension, skin allergy, sensitive body type or diabetic patients should not eat mango. It is not suitable to eat after meal as well.
Pineapple - Mild in nature. Sweet, sour and astringent. It can clear summer heat, relieve thirst, aid digestion and relieve diarrhea, especially good for after eating too much meat or oily and fatty food. Eating pineapple can relieve indigestionand promote diuresis. It is not suitable for diabetic patients.
Mango - Hot in nature. sweet and sour. It can nourish stomach, relieve vomiting and dizziness, relieve thirst and promote diuresis. Dizziness caused by various reasons could be relieved by eating mango. It is suitable for those with chronic bronchitis cough or asthma. Those with skin allergy and sensitive body type should eat less. It is not suitable for diabetic patients.
