國防創新試驗組 (DIUx) 是美國國防部在矽谷所設立的新創公司加速器，用非稀釋資本投資並培育民間新創，以借助矽谷民間的創新和科技能量，完成國防需求上的快速裝備。
DIUx 2017 年第四季所公佈的報告指出，自 2016 年創立以來，已在 59 項測試階段的團隊投資一億八千四百萬美金，其中兩組已成功藉由 “其他交易授權 (OTA)” 與國防部簽訂生產合約。OTA 是美國政府新的採購模式之一，主要讓國防部能夠規避傳統且繁瑣的聯邦採購規範 (FAR)，提升武獲的效率。除此之外，美國國會在 2016 年度通過的國防授權法中，更讓 OTA 的測試項目可在無須重新招標競爭的保證下，直接轉入軍方生產合約，跳過以往昂貴又冗長的承包招標機制。
以 Tanium 這終端資安公司為例，其在 2016 年九月底開始與 DIUx 進行測試計劃，並在今年十月就得以與美國陸軍網路企業科技指揮部 (NETCOM) 簽訂高達七億五千萬的生產合約。

The Defense Innovation Unit Experimental (DIUx or DIUx 2.0) is a national security accelerator established by the DoD in the Silicon Valley, whose aim is to connect the innovative and technological powers of the Valley to DoD’s challenges by providing non-dilutive capital.
According to its 2017 Q4 report, the DIUx has awarded $184 million dollars for 59 pilot projects, two of which have successfully transitioned to production contracts through the use of Other Transaction Authority (OTA). OTA is a flexible business tool that allows DoD to enter into transactions while circumventing the traditional acquisition methods, such as contracts and grants, which are covered by the tedious Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The 2016 National Defense Authorization Act also allows successful OT pilot projects to transition without the need of further competition, increasing the efficiency of innovation.
A good example is Tanium, a company that specializes in endpoint cybersecurity monitoring and has successfully transitioned from pilot project to a $750 million production OT contract with the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) in a year’s time.
