（新聞稿，2018年9月16日，13:50）颱風山竹吹襲本港，在各區造成嚴重破壞，多區均有樹木倒塌及建築物受破壞。由於預計本港今日繼續受到颶風影響，道路交通在風暴後需時回復正常，加上校方亦需時檢查校舍受破壞的情況。基於保障學生安全，教協於今日中午聯絡教育局，建議當局盡早宣佈明天所有學校停課，讓學校在明天先檢查校舍情況，才於星期二正式復課。教協期望教育局盡早作出決定，讓校方有足夠時間安排相關人手及校舍檢查工作。

Typhoon Mangkhut is hitting Hong Kong and has already led to serious damages including collapsed trees and building destructions in many districts. Weather forecast shows that Hong Kong will continue to be impacted by hurricane wind today. It takes time for authorities to ensure safety in the neighbourhood and for schools to examine the campuses after the storm. Hong Kong Professional Teachers' Union (HKPTU) contacted the Education Bureau (EDB) at noon today and suggested that the EDB should suspend all school classes tomorrow and resume classes on Tuesday, after ensuring the safety of school campuses. HKPTU urges the EDB to decide as soon as possible so that there will be enough time for schools to prepare.
