聽說有人質疑英國人自吹自擂,把自己的職稱冠上一個區域總編輯,誰知道是什麼編輯。又是一個不知道什麼洞裡冒出來的人,我要睡覺了還來煩我。
好吧好吧,那我就來解釋一下,大家增加一點國際通訊社的常識。先說跟許多公司一樣,路透社的結構也一直在變動,我要說的是菲爾在職的時候。
所謂的編輯各式各樣,有 sub editor 改稿坐在編輯台改所有記者的稿子,採訪部有 financial editor 管財經,general news editor 管一般性政治新聞,photo editor 管照片,他們都各自帶一群記者。看清楚,這些 editor 前面都有個形容詞描述他們的專業。
舉北亞為例,當時包括了中國,日本,韓國,港澳和台灣,這些地方都有採訪辦公室,或大或小或有好幾個。所有新聞部的人要向 North Asia Editor 報告,也就是史密斯先生。
如果你的職位到了一個高度,職稱前面什麼形容詞都不必了,就是叫 editor,其他各司其職的編輯和記者都歸他管。到底懂不懂,以為職稱越長越好嗎?真是老土。
我也不知道在北亞他管理上述國家的新聞部門,在數百人之上無人之下,不叫北亞總編輯是要叫什麼?各種編輯好幾十個知不知道。至於南亞,管的國家更多,全部記者加起來又是好幾百個,又是在無人之下,不叫他南亞總編輯要叫他什麼?
舉例當時亞洲有三個區域總編輯 Regional Editors,北亞南亞和東南亞,他們三人之上是亞洲總編輯 Asia Editor。各洲有一個總編輯,他們之上是全球總編輯,叫 Editor-in-Chief。
在思想坦克,蘋果日報的作者揭露裡面都寫的很清楚他曾任南太平洋總編輯,南亞總編輯,北亞總編輯,因為在這些地區,他都在無人之下,只需向亞洲總編輯 Asia Editor 一人報告。是有什麼毛病?
真是有夠煩要應付這些井底之蛙。
