空氣汙染日益嚴重，讓民眾常常出門都憂心不已，但是除了室外空汙外，室內也有空氣汙染，而且可能比想像中的更嚴重！根據美國環境保護局（Environmental Protection Agency）的調查顯示，室內空汙的危害性是室外的2至5倍。
室內空汙更嚴重？焚香、擦指甲油暗藏危機
林口長庚醫院臨床毒物科護理師譚敦慈就分享，她有一個同學每次在家要「擦指甲油」的時候，先生都會要求她到陽台去擦，但真的有那麼誇張？為什麼不能在室內擦指甲油？主要是因為指甲油可能含有像是甲醛的有機溶劑，當室內空氣較不流通時，就容易吸入人體造成危害。
林口長庚醫院腎臟科主治醫師黃文宏表示，空汙已經成為一個全球性的問題，各國都是避之唯恐不及，都有相關的防治政策。台灣已經做到室內全面禁菸，這其實已經降低室內空汙的第一個指標。
黃文宏醫師指出，室內空汙常常被大家漠視，我們都認為室內的空氣品質絕對會比室外好，但事實上並不一定，因為室內有太多會汙染空氣的東西。
譚敦慈老師就透露，自己最害怕別人在室內燒香，因為台大公共衛生研究所曾發表研究指出，只要一點香室內的PM2.5就會非常高。黃文宏醫師也補充，包含甲苯、甲醛、多環芳香烴等物質都會因焚香而釋放出來。
病態建築物症候群你也有嗎？
除了上述情形，黃文宏醫師表示，還有一種跟建築物本身（例如裝潢用的隔板）有關的空汙，叫做「病態建築物症候群」。主要是因建築物室內空氣汙染，導致使用者出現多種不適症狀，包括神經及黏膜症狀，但只要一離開該建築物，相關症狀就會消失。也就是說，跟可移動的傢俱、電器、人們自身行為無關，可能是由建築物本身造成的空氣汙染。
神經症狀：頭暈、頭昏、頭痛；精神上出現焦慮、心神不寧、坐立難安等現象。
黏膜症狀：眼睛乾澀、鼻子過敏、喉嚨乾腫痛等。
室內還要注意什麼汙染源？
傢俱與裝潢與裝潢建材
黃文宏醫師指出，現在使用的建材很多都可能含有「甲醛?，而研究已證實甲醛是一致癌物質，因此保持室內通風是必要的。
影印機、雷射印表機
黃文宏醫師說明，這些器材使用過程中都可能產生「臭氧」及「一氧化碳」。
擁擠的秘密空間
若在人潮眾多的密閉空間，二氧化碳的濃度就會上升，若是過多就會造成換氧量不足的現象，人體就可能出現一些神經症狀。
何時開窗戶通風最安全？
要降低室內空氣汙染的威脅，開窗保持空氣流通是首要之務，也是解決室內空汙的最佳方法。但萬一挑錯時間，反而會讓室外汙染源跑進來，得不償失。
黃文宏醫師表示，如果開窗時發現室外透光度沒那麼好，或聞到異味，例如汽機車通過排放廢氣或大型車燃燒柴油的味道，此時就要多加注意，因為這表示外面的空氣品質比室內更差。他建議，這種情況還是把門窗緊閉，避免室外不好的空氣飄進來會比較安全。
此外，若是家中有空氣清淨機或空調等設備，可以在門窗緊閉後打開，有助於排除室內空氣污染的問題。
